I like the look of the dart fairing screen but something tells me that it does look more traditional without. So here's the question, which would you use, with or without?
With screen ,will make a big difference to how the bike rides for the better when doing anything over 50 mph
I’ve got a Dart screen on my Beemer and don’t really notice much difference with it to be honest. One good thing with it on though, is that it keeps bugs off the back of the clocks.
I have a small screen on my fz1n without it the front go's really light at anything over 80mph with it on sticks to the floor. and its as small as the one in the photo.
Without, no doubts at all. If you want your bike to look the real deal classic. It's also quieter. However, with a Dart screen you'll travel in relative comfort and 20 mph higher cruising speeds. As it only takes minutes to install or remove, why not have one and use it when you're going longer distances ??
Firstly, without looks so much better in my opinion... However, I have to be realistic as I'm now doing 130 miles a day commute. My Bonnie came with a small smoke coloured screen which was useless. I've since replaced it with a Triumph Touring screen (which although larger, looks far better as it's not smoked). The Triumph screen is also quick detachable so I can use the bike fully naked. As a side note: the touring screen, although better in practicality, still wasn't perfect as it directed all the wind noise into the helmet, (I'm 6') so I added an X-Creen on top (no longer looks as good, but it's practical, and I can still remove the full screen in seconds for posing)
These are the best pictures I've got. One with the small smoked screen, and one with the clear touring screen.
Personally I like a small screen and so I use the oem 'clear' summer screen. It takes nothing away from the simplicity of the bike and adds so much. In the winter I use the oem regular screen which is only a few cm's taller but every inch helps, right! It's important for me to have it in clear as black or tinted can and does change the overall appearance of the bike (which is fine if that's your intent) but I personally like to see the clocks. Stevo
I put a Triumph summer screen on my Street Twin, noisy, moved the wind into my face, sold it bought a Puig mini touring screen twice the size, works much better but looks like arse. Fits onto the headlight mount so quickly on and off, only use it when I know I'll be on motorways for a long stint
I have a Triumph one on my Thruxton and to be honest it causes more turbulence. It does protect the clocks, which is what I keep telling myself. Before I fitted it it was a nice smooth airflow.
Have used Thruxton R screen for a while and in my opinion it made no difference and the Speed Twin looks better without. I’ll be taking it off
I agree, the MRA attachment style screens are really good and have a full range of adjustments so should suit most people and bikes.
When I bought my T120 I had what Triumph call the Long Haul screen fitted, which despite its name is only a bit bigger than the flyscreen but looks smaller than the Dart. However, it is clear, so doesn't affect the looks too much and I can cruise quite comfortably at motorway speeds. However, if you want a definite classic look I agree it's better without. I've also got a Honda CB1100A which has a small Puig screen - again it is more comfortable with than without when getting a move on and its looks seem to suit the bike, which also has a Givi rack and box.
