If it's just the weight that bothers you give the Street 765 a test. The misses has the 675 and manages to keep up. ;)
(not managed to drop that one for her...... yet:scream:)

Bland is exactly what everyone is saying, I'm going to try one this afternoon. It was the original bike I wanted to buy before the speed, now after 2 of them think it might be time.

Re 765, it is a hoot to ride, high revving missile! Only thing is I do like the lazy feel of 1000. Yday was sitting at 70 (ish!) At 5k revs

Just got back from a test ride on the bmw, I agree 100% its a very bland bike. Brakes are better than speed and its faster but having the elec suspension thought it would be plush in road mode, it isn't, my speed soaks up the bumps better. Only thing the speed is missing is the cruise control.

Like col c said I'll try a 765, that has everything doesnt it?

I had a 765rs as a loaner for a couple of days.i thought it may feel like a naked version of my Daytona 675r but it was far from it. I really didn’t get gel with it at all. It just felt like a watered down version of my speed rs (which I guess it is) It doesn’t feel as planted and It lacks torque low down even campoared to the Daytona so I I had to revs the nuts of it to stop it stalling when pulling away which I still did numerous times. The stock sound is also uninspiring and bland. I’m sure it’s quite capable though and the above criticisms can be sorted with a few mods but as stock it isn’t for me.

I test rode the RS , loved it but only have 29inch inside leg so VERY much on tip toes .... loved the bike enough to get the Lust racing lowering kit and Triumph low rider seat ... suspension set up properly to maintain rake etc and all has been fine so far Just a thought

Moe , it was between that bike and the RS for me and the RS won when I sold my CB1000r ... Beemer is a great bike (as a most these says) but I preferred, for a change, the character of the Triple compared to the 4 cyclinders .... I have short legs so had the Lust Racing lowering kit fitted plus Triumph low rider seat .... with both feet virtually flat on the floor I have total confidence and having had the suspension set up for the lowering it's a great ride ! Beemer is good but the RS does it more for me Let us know what you try if you decide to change All the best mate

I rode it a week or so back, the s1000, its a shorter bike but doesn't feel like it has the torque of the speed. With the speed it feels like an event when you ride it, the bmw doesn't have that..even my fireblade isn't that boring for an inline 4. I'm sticking with the speed..I can get both feet flat.

Think it was just end of the day tiredness!!

Rode again to london and stayed up there for a few nights all good!

Ahhh it is so annoying when stuff like this happens, but you can guarantee it will at the end of a long day, when you're tired, hungry, etc. Similar happened to me in my garage with my Fireblade, after a day's worth of spannering on it and putting it back together, dropping it off the (RUBBISH!) warrior stand, it just started to topple away from me. Once it starts to go, that's it. No saving it!

Sorry to hear and glad you are ok - the damage to the bike could have been a lot worse!

Hi Mrs fzr had the same top heavy problem with her speed triple. I fitted a lithium battery and a 3 into 1 Leovince found some titanium nuts and bolts left over from my racing days. Result over 10 kilos lighter mainly high up. Transformed the slow manoeuvrability of the bike.

Did exactly that with my Speed R and fitted a scorpion low boy carbon can, to try and get the weight lower down. It’s a twat being a short ass but it’s made me more comfortable and given me more confidence riding it.

Thanks man, will have a look at the number on the back and see if they can supply. Tbh it hasn't bothered me since that initial oh fuck for a couple of hours after.

Just you know soon won't be able to find these parts.

Did replace the bar ends with r&g ones that stick out a bit further and some flebay bar end mirrors
