High guys and dolls, question for ya all, fork oil for Triumph Daytona 955i year 2000, the recommended oil is showa SS8 or equivalent, now I know my oils but hey, anyone that can help, for the equivalent please. Thanks Ken.
Yes the SS8 is equivalent to 10W. I’ve just changed it in my Daytona forks but found the 10W Rock oil I put in made the forks too harsh so I’ve changed it for 5W. It’s better now but I still find there’s a bit too much compression damping and not quite enough rebound damping. I think the only resolution is to get a revalve done.
Freck have you been to the suspension guy round your way?? (TW Suspension) I thought he was really good when I took my Daytona a few a yrs ago. I thought I had it set up as per the info on here. but he ended up putting lots more pre-load on the shock (Wilbers) and doing the twiddling and the bike felt totally different on the run back home I have the settings he did somewhere.
I’ve been trying to get hold of him but he’s away on holiday for a couple of weeks. I’d really appreciate it if you’ve got the settings he did for you. I’ve also been in touch with Maxton and they sent me some good info about the shortcomings of the standard suspension, but they wanted about £600 to sort the forks
