I’ve a week to spare next coming Saturday to Saturday traveling to Southern England which actually started off as an alps trip tour then the Scottish NC500 trip but hey that’s how it goes sometimes.
It was meant to be three of us but now down to two because of whatever reason and I just want some ideas of what there is that’s ‘quaint’. Not too bothered about fastest roads as this is more of a bimble around and not decided if we’re doing west side or east or even lower midlands into wales as its recommendations I want first.

This area can be quite picturesque and has decent roads

Towcester is a good base, from there there are all sorts of historical and notorious places to visit. Plus Towcester racecourse is a pleasant afternoon.

This is a great route if you get down this far. Let me know and I can give you the must see parts and also where you can get off the main roads
You also have Dartmoor in Devon although speed restricted it has some great views

North West and Mid Wales is absolutely beautiful but very busy in summer.

Well if it’s Kent you want to get to you can’t go too far wrong by coming down the 339 from Basingstoke to Alton then heading selbourne, liss, rogate picking up the a272 for as far as it’ll take you then get lost in the little lanes around Kent .

Depending on where you are actually heading, I'd go with crispeys first post through the Cotswolds (we've done it a few times now!) This is Burford, but Moreton-in- Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water are all charming.

Going east, the A272 is the bikers road of choice down here - get past Petersfield and on to Midhurst then continue to head east into West Sussex. Stay on the A272 or take the A283 from Petworth down through Pulborough and then down to Brighton. Lots of places to stop and eat - Whiteways near Arundel and Billy's on the road.

Midhurst - (pretends to be Hastings when Foyles War is filmed here)

Bloody hell steve, those pics look inviting !! Hope the surroundings are just as good. I’ve seen it up here in Yorkshire where there’s a lovely quiet street of quaint houses with rif raf in council houses behind the ‘front’ street!
