What mileage are you getting from your tyres? My T100 is just a year old, has 4,600 miles on it and the front tyre is nearly down to the legal limit. Rear tyre still has 4mm. I would have expected to replace the front tyre once for every 2 rears, not the other way round. Tyre is a Pirelli Phantom. I'm replacing the front with the same tyre this time, but I will be looking for something with a bit longer life the next time when I anticipate renewing both front and rear. Not really a complaint, just asking if this is typical.
That is odd, I’ve never had a bike where the front wears faster than the rear. As you say, it’s usually about two rears to a front. How’s it worn; evenly? Have you noticed any unusual handling characteristics or problems?
It's worn evenly and there's nothing wrong with the handling. I did think the tread wasn't very deep when it was new, so I guess it's the design of the tyre and it's softer rubber than I've been used to.
Seems very odd, especially if the rear is the same make. You’d think they’d be very similar compounds if not the same.
I’m in the same situation on my street twin. 4600 miles just over a year old and the front tyre will need changing very soon. The rear is good all pressures have been kept to what they are meant to be nothing odd in handling .
It's 2mm. I have a trip to France in a week's time in which I'll probably add about 1,000 miles. My initial reaction was to replace it before I go, I'm now thinking I may leave it until I come back.
I am in the same position with my Street Twin. 5,500 miles and the front will need to be replaced soon. The rear tire has plenty of tread. Like you, I will replace the front only with same tire, then at maybe 12,000 miles replace both with something different. The front Pirelli is a bias ply tire, not radial. However the rear is a radial design. I will eventually want radials front and back. A lot of people seem to like the Avon Storm 3D XM tires.

On the Street Twin, front is a bias ply tire while the rear is a radial. Not sure if this has something to do with it.
Funny, when i looked over my speed twin at 1500 miles, i thought the front looked more worn than the rear.... maybe i am not going mad?
On the plus side though, I can't fault the performance of either tyre(tire). Certainly in the dry. I don't ride fast enough in the wet to find the limit. I guess more rapid wear is the price you have to pay for boots that stick to the road like these do.
