With nothing better to do the last couple of days, what with my sore back and hand, I've enlisted Auntie Google's help to look for likely venues for GMU2020 in the East of England.

Not much luck I am afraid. There are quite a few right-size bunkhouses, but none have suitable hotels nearby.

Looking further afield there are none I can find meet all our criteria in the East Midlands, North Home Counties, Lincs or Yorkshire.

I'll look around Wales when I have a few minutes if no-one beats me to it.

You'd have to ask the hotel chaps some who thought the walk up a little far (though the roll back maybe not so). Otherwise fine with me. No harm in checking to see if there are any other possibilities.

Maybe we could pre-book a fleet of limo's for the poshies.

That‘s mighty nice of you, @crispey , but I‘d rather enjoy the little walk up the hill. It took only 20 minutes. And it was about as long, as the limo above

Wales, Ireland, Bellingham or anywhere else for me, it is just the getting together and ride outs for me, so not bothered about location...

Just a note about last years bunkhouse in Wales, the catering facilities/kitchen are no good for a group our size. There is just one small domestic size cooker and a few small pans. James and I really struggled last year.
Next year we don't intend to do any cooking so bear in mind there are no cafes nearby and no take-aways that deliver.

Yes, I recollect the struggle just trying to do breakfast for those in the bunkhouse.

We've been lucky with Bellingham in that there are a couple of reasonably priced hotels nearby. There are very few bunkhouses South of the Border like that. I've found one in Norfolk on the coast that on the face of it looks good but the nearby hotels start at £160 for a twin room.

The group hostel here is currently £378 per night sleeping 18 private hire. There are private rooms in an adjacent hostel - twins, doubles, doubles +1, and quads, and extra dorm beds. The group can extend use of the roup hostel by up to 12 persons from these other rooms in the adjacent Backpackers hostel. Campsite on the grounds. Cafe next door for cooked breakfasts from 8am. Pubs nearby.

North Norfolk coastline is very picture-skew, nice little towns with interesting scenery and (natural) wildlife. Used to head up there from the very boring bit of flat South Norfolk where I was brung up.
