She may look like she is having a rest after a ride out but due to the gradient on the track she went over as I was reversing her toward the garage. Joy. Busted indicator lens & bent gear shifter. Minor scratches on screen & tank. All the fluid levels seem to be fine but is there anything else I need to be aware of before I take her back out? Thinking being on her side is not good for such a big bike.
Get yourself some engine bars - stops it falling horizontally. Check bars and securing bolts, then anything obvious.
Serious thoughts about engine bars. Trying to lift her whilst flat on the ground and the gradient against you was fun - channeled the angry green superhero (then asked the wife for help).
Mainly fluid levels need checking. If you left it on its side long enough, you might get some oil in the bores, but do no harm, bit of smoke on start up. Brake fluid reservoirs can leak, just clean up any leaks, make a mess of paint if it has leaked. It happens to us all.
Cheers for your comments, when it happened I felt like a right numpty but it's all a learning experience, especially how heavy she is when she gets past the tipping point.
The most embarrassing drop I did was in 1982 6 miles outbound to France with girlfriend on back of a 900 six cylinder Benelli sei. Hauled on the very good anchors to let a late zebra crossing wrinkly to pass. Girlfriend rode forwards as did I onto petrol tank. Too high for a 31” instep and dropped it. Was a whole load of pensioners who helped lift it off me
No permanent damage, just a slow topple with the crunch of breaking indicator lens. All the fluids were fine, no leakages. I have noticed tho that since then, when I fire up the ignition it starts to rain ..... do Triumphs have some form of climate control and the fall damaged it?
Dropped mine recently at a junction. Bus came too quickly along the road so I had to stop suddenly and over she went in slow motion. Leg was stuck underneath but a group of people helped pick me up. Last time I fell over was when I was on a motorcycle lesson as a learner and the nice car behind felt the need to beep me . This time I bent a clutch lever and pedal but paintwork seemed thankfully ok. Anybody know where I can get black mirrors and black brake and clutch levers for a 2017 Storm 1700cc?
