If that's on the road, then the answer is Yes! If on the track then no! Getting off the edge of a 140 tyre is easier than a 190, but in any case well done!
I struggle to take the chicken strips off my 98 Daytona’s tyres and off the heavier 885 I have, but the wife’s Honda is too easy to be a hooligan once again
There is a CB500 race series which is very quick (compared to most peoples expectations) & very competitive, I race a Bandit which has 160 rear tyre, this is very easy to 'fall off the edge' of, so we hang off more to keep it on the fat part of the tyre.
You are such a fecktard Ron! Hang off bike more, but don't lean the bike in so far, this keeps it off the edge & in the middle part of tyre. Don't try this on the road Ron, you probably won't be able to get back up!
At this point I would like to apologise to @Godders the OP, sorry that @Ron Ashurst has come on derailing you thread, he is, to be honest, a little lacking, think of this like care in the community, letting him come and play with the grown-ups at least stops him eating the crayons.
I’m just glad to be back on bikes again after a decade off them. Amazing what a replacement hip can do for you
Watch you don't fall off the side of the tyre and land on your hip !! You are as they say only as old as you feel I am still doing track days and off roading etc at 55 and if anything I am getting better at it with learning new skills and pushing myself . Hopefully by 60 I will be good at it
Awesome stuff... I'm really tempted to get a Suzuki GS500 and turn it into a trackday troll machine and winter hack!
I have a CB500 as a partner to my 955i Tiger. It is so much fun - encourages "making progress" and "maintaining momentum" through corners. Wonderful real world bike.
I’ve just dragged one of my old bikes out of storage, an Mz Skorpion sport, it’s a big 660 single with clip ons as std and for all the reasons above. It’s simple, it encourages making progress and also maintains momentum on corners. I’ve never been so exited about this moment, more so than any superbike I’ve ever owned. Part of me wants to ride it up to the GMU this year but its five years since I last rode it and I’m interested to see if my body can still find the riding position comfortable!!
I have just ordered a new set of Continental ContiMotions plus new inner tubes for the Thunderbird Sport as the ones on it were squared off and came with the bike when I bought it 12 years ago. Now I've gotten back into biking again and done a few hundred miles on these iffy tyres its maybe time to throw a little more money at her. She's certainly no sports bike so I'm hoping the Continentals will be more than up for the job.
Yup, didn’t use any of my bikes until about a month or two ago until a hip replacement made riding possible again. Until recently there were three bikes lying completely unused for 8/9 years and infrequently used for four years before that.
