Hi All, As title says bit of a catch up since departure of my Tbird, well been busy trying to get building control past for small extension, in truth quite easy once you've greased the palms of a architect or plan drawer, then done likewise with a structural engineer regards steel calculations, then paid the price to council for the go ahead and gave them card details for the next three to four visits that they say need to happen only to tell you that you should inform Northumbrian water because they may need in on the action (wallet), well long story but still only at the very beginning of the story as decided to self manage each stage of the build myself as truthfully couldn't find a builder that thought in the same numbers as myself. OK back in the real world which aint much better, just had a full and I mean FULL colonoscopy procedure which I had stupidly put off since I was 50 now at 60 I cant avoid because situation got worse so dirty deed done awaiting results and being honest I dont know why I was so stupid to ignore the situation like I did, . While I still have your attention and we are on the subject of lets talk about my new addition christ no not another bairn Its a two wheel addition its a - HARDLY MOVINGSON FAT BOB (sorry Dilli no pun intended) Still got to sort out a few niggles with it(No cant change its name) but can work through them, just gotta find the time what with the forthcoming build, the thing and the already booked times away in the motorhome, not to mention GMU. So lets see how it all goes today ,Cos tomorra cant be any worse , than the next day or day before. I'm still a Triumph fan, but more than that a lover of two wheels or to tell the truth a cleaner of them. Stay safe you lot, still looking and reading, but cant always get involved PS Would you believe never rode it yet, insurance kicks in on Saturday !!! but cleaned it three times ready for another bloody messy putting in foundations,
Hope everything falls into place for you mate As for the Hardley well I suppose someone has to Good luck with everything that’s going on Tez
Stick in there Tez, I’m sure all will agree you are always welcome to contribute doesn’t matter what bike you are riding?
Hope everything works out for you on all 3 accounts mate. PS. Mines a pint of bitter at Belly Jam old lad
TEZ 217 Sure is a thing of beauty the Harley. Yes as the peeps are saying it will all come together for you and in the end worth all the hassle and uproar. When we did our extension I just felt depressed every day. It just seemed to go on for ever and ever. The house was always dirty and the garden a cesspit. I left all the visits and charm to our builder also a family friend he seemed to know what to say. Now it's all finished it's great best room in the house. Regards And Ride Safe. Joe.
Totally correct mate but building control still require you to jump through there hoops, no idea what it was like before as first experience of doing stuff the correct way Though see the reason why they do it !!!
Well cost me 170 quid to view the plans after I had paid for them to be drawn, then they said we need steel calc's for girders again had to pay for them to be done, plus we need up to three site visits at various times to check each process of build that will be another 240 quid, plus you may need northumbria water which will be another 300 quid plus !!! etc etc,
Definitely Wessa totally agree mate, but still a Government thing, the've robbed each local council of so much in funding and revenue that they have to source it elsewhere, as in this bloody green tax or charge to enter city centres because of dangerous pollution levels - ALL Bollocks !!
Bloody hell, Tez! Building woes, health problems and a feckin' Harley!!!!! You don't half know how to make life hard for yourself! Anyroadup, good luck with it all and I hope everything comes together well as soon as possible. Good health is everything - anything else is secondary.
Must have owned a dozen Harley's. Never yet got more than 15 k before they failed big time...but then I do thrash my bikes Tomorrow I take my 15 k miles tbird 1600 for a big tour two up. Let's see if it does any better. Meantime my Tiger 955i just goes on doing the business.....30 k on it last year. At 66 I've had all the colonoscopy I'll ever want. I feel your pain....no, really I do...or did. Oh and apparently I've torn the tendons on both wrists doing said 30 k ....as Trotsky said 'Old age is the most unexpected of things to happen to a man.' ......and then you. die. Bah
My bestist mate @crispey and I were talking to a guy today who was on a Harley, he’d had it over 10 years and it had done over 100K miles without any major problems. He was on his way to a Harley rally at Kirby Lonsdale and ridden up from South Wales.
I understand that....I was with a Harley biased club for many years....few did big miles...those who did did the miles at low speed. I used to break one Harley a year before I gave up on them.
I think the reliability issues stem from the 70s when they did have problems, I've had 3 Harleys over the last 18 years and did a fair amount of mileage on all of them without any problems, and I don't always sit at 55mph! @half ton I had to look up "Twinkies" agree with you the engines are certainly no slouches!
I just reckon Alatomoc is a mad bastard by the sound of it, blows bikes up for fun, well reckon we all know some of them but each to our own. I couldn't be that mad these days nor would I want to
