Hi Guys, I just bought my first Triumph and holding my breath I have not bought a pup and I can get it going.
Wondered if anyone has ever seen this about as a bobber. It had a Blue tank?

Plans are to Cafe Racer this beasty. Although it is set up as a Bobber, I already have one of those in different Marque.

Will update on here what I find out about her. But owner inherited this as a debt and I am picking this up with just a log book, no history!!

OK, where do I start. I will take it apart to check all is ok and put back together again.
I am new to these engines, but hear there are known issues (Sprag, Alternator Bolt, Cam tensioner).
What should I look out for or how do I check these are ok?
This one is a 1996 Sprint 900 engine (I think) is there an Egnie VIn Code look up that I can confirm with. I have found an American Triumph VIN code sheet, but not UK
    Any advice please......

I'd start with removing the exhaustwrap from the waterhose ;)

If you'd ask me, I would worry about where to put my feet and arse.
The engine would be my least worry because I have encountered much help from many people on various forums on the technical issues.

I think it is a nice base to start with, front an rear frork are really nice and will set it apart from the rest!
    Good luck!

OK, I got the bike home. Been busy yesterday stripping it down. I found all sorts of issues!!
Basically it has not been built at all well, with loose or seized bolts and wrong bolts in wrong holes. I have a stack of washers used as wheel spacers for the custom wire wheels
Lots of bit cut off the frame and more bits welded on. It has been 2 pack sprayed though, which is a shame as I will strip and powder coat after I have made all my own modifications.
I found this on google . You might have to type this in at https://

Looks like it was built properly once

Built back in 2014 by Hackshack Customs. But I am slightly concerned by some of the build as you can see by the lower link, also Swingarm pivot bolt is to small and has a lot of play in it

D880F422-DAEB-402F-9E30-8F219C2EA083.jpeg So bike is stripped down
Wiring is shot, so ordered another loom
Front wheel spaders are not correct snd mostly a bunch of washers
Headset bearings are the wrong size and rattle about
Swing Arm had 2 threads in bolt and tightening it more would of not helped as the spacers in the arm had been removed and just a single bearing on each side

    The list goes on......

What the lower link should look like and my link

As the swingarm spacers were removed i have gone over the wheels and they also had the spacers removed, even the one between cush drive and wheel
Really dangerous build we had here.
Why and what for i have no idea

More spacers to get made bow then

Also header has custom billet yolks and doesn't use standard size bottom taper bearing, so some idiot has just rested the smaller taper housing inside the old one! WTF

Yes anothe bush to be made here lol

Front and rear wheels now rebuilt, no Idea on the make, but hey came off a Supermoto with twin disc front wheel and single disc and cush drive on the rear.
Again, none had any spacers or seals, but they do now :).
One of the rear wheel bearings was only held in by the pain on the rim.
Some people should not build bikes, let alone call themselves "Custom" bike builders.
Swingarm is also rebuilt and I have welded the frame to take the bottom link. Just need to decide on rear shock now and relocate shock top mount.
Probably going for a 675R unit as fully adjustable

Now I have to line the wheels up on the centre line and have proper spacers made for Front forks and rear (not a pile of washers this time)

Cut some of the washers at 12 o clock and 3 oclock then you can place and replace while the wheels are in, to gauge the depth of the spacers required.
