The forum posed the question on facebook, "What does petrol cost in your country?" I reckon £15 quid spent on fuel for the bike is the best value pound for grin you can get. How much would it cost to spend a day at Alton Towers hanging around in queues full of squealing teenagers? Or take the Missus to see a boring chick flick at the Showcase Cinema? Football match? £25 easy for 90 minutes supposed 'entertainment'! Nah, petrol's pricey, but relatively speaking, putting £15 of unleaded in me tank is still the best way to make me smile. What do you reckon?
I know petrol isnt cheap but have to agree its value for money when put in a motorcycle purely for the grin factor. Fuel for my bike is the only fuel expenditure i have as i drive a company vehicle with a company fuel card which covers my personal mileage needs too  I tend to buy my petrol from Morrisons or Asda as they are the nearest to my house & cheaper than most but quite happily fill my company van to the brim with diesel at motorway services at £1.49.9p per litre
I get an email each week off PetrolPrices.com telling me where the cheapest fuel around me is, its a free service so saves a few quid. For me as long as its not throwing it down with rain I would prefer to fuel the bike and ride it to work and go without my car & van. Its a sure fire way to arrive at work with a smile on my face and blow away the stresses of the day on the way home again. That doesn't really happen when I drive my van!
I would never get my tool chest, welding equipment, generator, power tools & the vast amount of spare parts that i need to carry in the saddle bags of my America though. Plus i dont fancy sticking an average of 5000 miles per month extra on clock. My van is a late 61 plate with over 55k on the clock already!
Mines a VW campervan so I don't think the missus would be too impressed if we had to spend a holiday sleeping on the back of the Daytona either!!
Is getting a bit pricey mind, filled up before the light started flashing (that's before you hit reserve Pig) £17.25 Sainsburys, Matlock. Still a bloody good run out though.
Blimey... Flashing lights? I just have to wait until the engines dies then fiddle around for the tap thingy
Brucey bonus! :upyeah: I collect the Nectar points too but try to fill up at Morrisons where possible & collect the Morrisons Miles points, normally end up getting a £5 voucher every 3 weeks max!
Last year was the first time that I really noticed the cost of the fuel on a ride-out. I don't tend to get out that much but tend to kick the arse out of it when I do - on a typical day I'll do 400-500 miles. Makes for a £100 day out with something to eat and a pint or two! :frown:
Think petrol would need to get a lot more expensive before not filling the bike up and heading out. Have noticed the difference since getting rid of the Ducati; always the most expensive bike to fill up when we went out for group rides
