Not goretex lined or anything but seems if I treat the leather lowers with a good leather balm such as you would use on a jacket or gloves they would withstand a bit of rain.

Well, it's 115 degrees out (46 for those of you who speak Celsius) so, the wife being out of town, I rolled my baby into the living room and commenced to give her her annual checkup (the part that can be done indoors, anyway).

Back late Friday night from my brothers funeral. Got woken up at 06:30hrs this morning by the tyre shop delivering my bike, following the new disk being fitted. Once I gave the tyres a scrub to remove the blue protection from the white walls, packed the bike up and set of Newcastle. Just stopped for a coffee and to get some respite from the rain....

Well we have been in Adelaide River NT for last two days, we go to Darwin tomorrow for two/three days then the journey home begins. Covered approx 6,300 klms so far ! Today will be a check up day and wash the bike. Will post pics later possibly tomorrow night.

    Cheers Mick Brenda capt

Didn't use the bike to go to the Adelaide River war cemetery, walked as it's less than 2 klms from our room. IMG_20190609_114245.jpg
It was Immaculate , as it should be. Didn't realise that the Japanese attacked so far into Australia during WW11, from Port Hedland in WA to Townsville Queensland and almost to Katherine, all got bombed regularly. Darwin had more bomb's dropped on it than Pearl Harbour, they lost 243 lives in Darwin on the first raid. The Adelaide River cemetery has over 400 plots from all three services and over 30 civilians.

The bike got a really good cleaning, mostly around the back wheel and mudguard, as the chain lube over 4 weeks traveling has built up to annoying level. Took nearly an hour's worth of effort to get wheel and guard's spotless.

My WWII history is sketchy in that part of the world. I didn’t even know the Japs did such bombing raids... will have to read up on it.

Gonna service my Triumph Sprint ST 1050 today consisting of an oil change, filters and spark plugs and then give her a nice wash afterwards.

There's quite a lot of contemperaneous footage of the bombing of Darwin - no doubt available on youtube - and the movie "Australia" with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, is set in the period.
