Gents, am new to the site but thought I'd add some that may be of use. I have a 2018 Speedie which I have fitted mid-controls and raised the bars by 31/2 inches. I have taken the seat to Saddlecraft in South Shields to have it made into a comfort seat and restyled to suit my 'bost' knees. The pillion seat will also undergo the comfort treatment. Les has done work for me on other bikes and his workmanship is outstanding. It will be a few weeks before I can update as just acquired a new hip. ( The joys of rugby and occasionally getting off race bikes!!)
Got seat back from Saddlecraft, quality is top notch. Seat height raised by 2" and pillion seat made wider for comfort. Both have good size gel inserts. They can model seat to suit your requirements. Not tested it yet as just back, but was ready to get off standard seat after 120 miles or so.
Nice work....looking a lot more substantial than the original pad. Taking my original front saddle to a specialist on Monday, who is confident it can be reshaped and original rear pad mounting used to fit on the pillion à la Queen seat. This should keep the Fraü happy over distance. Watch this space.
Look forward to seeing your seat reshaped with the pillion pad. (You can hardly call it a seat!) Some specialist seat builders do excellent jobs.
Ok folks, sorry been away a while, here's the update to the rear seat project. Step by step plate cut fitted and shaped. Has been mounted on original pad. Collecting on Thursday to take to upholsterer. I'm happy at present with the progress. Will update shortly.
That is looking really good. Makes you wonder why Triumph did not create a seat similar to that rather than the small pad on the bike as stock?
I get why they did what they did. I enjoy the look, but when it comes to a bit of touring, if you go to the bother of creating a comfort range, why not a long distance saddle for the pillion.
I just installed mine tonight. Lame that you have to transfer the latch cable assembly off old seat, and like many on here the black plastic pull ring fell off the first time it was touched. Based on my 8 block test ride tonight, it feels a bit higher than the old one, almost like your atop the bike. It will take some breaking in and getting used to i think.

Update after longer ride today: It's a game changer, both in looks and performance; this is the seat the bike should come with. A more anchored, easy and stable perch overall. I took my 190 lb. son on the back and now I realize the reason it always felt precarious is that you kind of slide about on the stock seat- it's too narrow. Also, the rounded shape of the "wings" that provide that stability on the comfort seat look amazing- like a woman's hips and compliment the rest of the bike's lines, especially with the pinstriping.
Hi Beerman it's been nearly 2 years , how the seat going ? I just got a speedmaster went for a 400 km ride two weeks ago and my back is still sore from that trip ,I am looking at if I can upgrade suspension or seat a friend has talked me out of a springer seat so I was thinking about the comfort seat from Triumph and does it take the shock out of the larger bumps on the road, the bridge joints here are brutal at 100kph and who wants to ride at 70 kph to lessen the impact of the bump cheers
It's been great for me - it is an upgrade. I can't promise it'll be right for you - how tall are you? Beerman
I'm 5.10 Was there a noticeable difference when you went over bumps with the new seat ? I was talking to one of my mate with a HD that you can go into HD shop and get a demo seat but I don't know if they are aftermarket seats but I do know Triumph do not have this service I have been talking to the salesman where I got the bike from he said the comfort seat will not take the sharp jar out of the bumps and have been advised to drop the air pressure in the tyres by a couple of lbs and this being a new bike the suspension has not bedded in yet ,God another 400km like the last I will not need the bike I have a wheelchair Cheers for the reply
I guess it depends on how big the bumps are! I haven't had to drop the tyre pressure, and i am 5ft 9 - basic question have you adjusted the shock? Beerman
The preload is on 1 for a single rider I did turn it anticlockwise and you can see the spring moving toward the rear of the bike in other words it was compressing the spring I say that would make the ride harder than it is now. The bumps are not that big ,they are where the road end and the bridge starts and I do feel them . I'm doing the trip again this weekend or next weekend so I see if the tyre pressure does anything Cheers Beerman
Preloading the shock will take some of the impact out. I rode at setting 4 for 110kg until I upgraded the mono. I like comfort seat, but would like to be up and back further at some stage.
Increasing preload will stop the bike sagging so much when you sit on it, meaning it has further to travel before bottoming out. As the Speedmaster only has 72mm of rear suspension travel, you probably want to keep as much as you can in reserve for those bumps. I weight a bit over 100kg, and with all the bike gear and panniers, that'll be closer to 130kG, I ride with the preload set to 5 (out of 7). I suggest you try experimenting, doesn't cost anything.
