Right 3 sessions under my belt sunny side up, really difficult track to learn, there’s a lot here designed to catch you out. Very physical track too with constant changes of direction & camber mean you have to be careful on the brakes. Still captain slow at moment so need to improve a little in each session.
Ha ha, most of it then! I have turns 1-3 pretty much sussed, turn 4 at the end of the straight, need to brake later, but from there to the Gooseneck is tricky, the chicane is a pain, the turns before the mountain catch me out occasionally, I actually missed the brake Point for the left & went straight on up the grass in one session. The mountain through to Hall bends & hairpin on to the last turn onto the start finish straight are also tricky. But went better in each session, carrying more corner speed now than earlier, but still gonna be towards the back rather than front at present speed.
The mountain through to the last turn is pretty much follow the leader, you’d struggle to pass on that bit, but there will be time to be made in braking for turn 4.
Looks like race 1 should be about 12 noon, so you guys might make it, the gate is miles from the Paddock so if you can arrive together that will be great, should be able to ride you bikes into paddock as there is a bike park next to clubhouse.
After turn 5 run out wide (left) and stay out late. The last left before the mountain is a very late apex to keep to the left hand kerb on exit ready for the right and mountain. Once a motocrosser always a motocrosser, there seems a natural draw to the grass. I ran across the grass at the right after the mountain over taking people plus I did it twice! ...... but I wouldn't have got away with it in the wet!!!
Morning guys, I’ll be at Bawtry in plenty of time, ie before 10.00 so if you are early we can get going. I know Al likes an early start. There are average speed cameras around Gainsborough and vans are often seen at various locations so we can make progress but can’t be too daft with it.
Up to you Al, sounds like a plan. Do you want to pm me your number and I'll call you when we get to the track in case Billy is busy?
Thanks again to all of you for coming today, hope you had a good ride home, thanks as well to Andy @Yorkshireman for jumping on the spanner’s to get me going again, there is a full time vacancy if you want it!
A real pleasure mate, had a ball. A really good ride in with Paul and Lee and a good ride out with Paul. Eh Paul
