Hi, I just picked up a 2007 Tiger 1050 to add to ‘97 T’bird sport. Really like it but one issue has raised itself. At motorway speed with throttle held steady, the speed slowly drifts down and so I have to give it a bit of throttle to get back to original speed which creates a bit of a surge and then it happens again and so on. It just means that smooth cruising isn’t poss. I am a newbie and not fluent in bike mechanics so would love any guidance please. Thx!
You may have an air leak at the throttle bodies or perhaps your fuel pump is bogged down slightly clogged new filter maybe.
Might be worth trying an adaption cycle before you pay for a remap. Start the bike without touching the throttle. Wait until the fan kicks in, then time 12 minutes. All without touching the throttle. Turn the engine off and then ride as normal. Can't do any harm at all.
I did the adaption cycle when i first got my 1050 as the throttle felt a bit on and off when accelerating out of a corner. Worked a treat. I have no throttle snatch now and it runs smoother than before. Not sure how it works but it does.
Hello Tiger novice and welcome to the forum Yes try the Adaption Cycle first then if that doesn’t improve things tell the dealer that seeing as they suggest a remap if it doesn’t improve the you want a full refund. Why would you buy something that doesn’t work, they’re supposed to be the experts.
As Tiglet said. If the selling dealer has said mapping will help, i would expect that for free. As the bike has not been running correctly since you wheeled it out of the showroom. To me, the adaption cycle should sort the throttle action out for you. In a total of under 15 minutes, you should have a perfectly running Tiger. Good luck
OP hasn't been on the site since May 27th. Would be nice to hear if there's a solution to his problem. Perhaps he's been kidnapped by a gang of nympho's who have him tied up and he can't get to a keyboard.
Like "Tiger novice" I too bought a 07 1050 this year (Getting back into riding after a long break) and it has throttle issues. It feels like is surges/stumbles around 3K RPM, it likes to die when when coming to a stop and pulling in the clutch. It also doesn't like to start without a bit of throttle. I too it into the local dealer and they updated the software(?) but it is still problematic. I'll try this and see if it helps. Thanks!
apologies for radio silence, i thought i get an email if anyone adds to the thread and as i didn't get any, i didn't look. anyway the issue turned out to be that the lamba sensor had been sheared off and a suppressor put in to loom to reassure the brains. This clearly didn't work hence the lumpy running. the sheared sensor was drilled out and replaced so now it is running so much better. thanks for all your help. i will now also do the adaption cycle again.
