That's the place Dave. I'm heading over this Saturday.

I came across a thread on Bike Club France's forum saying that they were having a party that night. Food, booze and a band evidently, so sounds like not a bad idea to pitch up a tent there for the first leg of the trip. I've contacted them and there's plenty of tent space.

The guy there to talk with is called Chris. [email protected]

    Fancy it?

If you knew how much wine and beer costs here boys - you wouldn't be quite so enthusiastic.

As I write I am drinking a 33cl can of beer(4.7%) which costs the princely sum of 33 cents (about 25 pence) which be be followed by charcuterie (mixed cold meats) cheeses and grainy bread all washed down with my favourite daily tipple (my Doc says it's good for the heart) a bottle of Roche Mazet Cabernet Sauvignon 2.33€ (about £1.60).

It's absolute hell living here. Just got back from a 120kms ride in beautiful sunshine and countryside on lovely sweeping, bendy roads with no traffic and now I have to eat and drink !

    It's a hard life...........etc etc

Sounds like hell that Dave. :)

What's the weather like by the way. Seem to be forecasting rain for Saturday. The trip down from Calais might be a bit damp.

Last time we were in the Marne Valley (admittedly a good few years ago), we stopped at a Champion Supermarket in Chateau Thierry for provisions, and they had a pallet of John Smiths bitter for 30 cents a can!!:):) SWMBO decided that food was more important than my beer!! :(:( Managed to squeeze a few tins in the panniers though!! :D:D:p

    Food more important than beer?!

See, this is why women shouldn't be allowed to make important decisions. :)

Looks great. So where did you actually go in the end. Monte Carlo by the looks of it but where else?

Bottom two photos are Monte Carlo (overpriced building site! - or it was last time I was there) and what looks like the road from Nice port ( behind the camera) towards the Promenade des Anglais (round the corner in front of the camera).
    My jealousy knows no bounds!!!
Fly into Nice, catch the no.99 bus to town (station) and use the trains to run up and down the coast. Works for us, in the absence of a suitable motorcycle (mine!).

I went to Collioure near the Spanish border, and then headed up the coast to Nice, with a quick lap of the Monaco GP circuit thrown in for good measure.
