I got a surprise letter this morning and NO it wasn't a summons You all remember my Tbird (you should - I've posted enough Pictures ) I bought the bike 2/3 years ago, custom paintwork etc, tracked down the painter and having spoke to him found out he had pictures of paint job in various stages and he also carried on and painted the owners Piss pot in the same union jack colours, Buggar thought I a matching piss pot how nice, So I wrote to last owner telling him I had just acquired his previous bike and was over the moon with it, told him I'de spoke to guy who painted it etc in the faint hope he may have wrote back and perhaps mentioned the helmet in the hope I could buy it perhaps, as at the time didn't want to ask for that as well, Turned out no reply was forthcoming at all, I new the guy was a businessman and thought he was to busy and wasn't bothered by my letter, So now nearly 3 years later a letter arrives asking me to call him as he has a few questions for me regards his bike, turns out he's now sold his business and retired moved house letter although he kept it, it was lost until now and just re-discovered, Long story short bike holds memories for him and due to recent events it holds even more now, he wants to buy it back, made a mistake selling it (think we've all been there) asked me to consider selling it back to him (F.Y.I . near to price I paid 2/3 years ago) Went on to say my take on things busy businessman and to busy was in fact correct at the time. I told him I loved the bike and so do lots of other folk, to be honest with you all I thought this would be my last bike buy ever, only thing i could do was tell him I would consider his offer and give it some thought . What a turn up for the books, never saw this coming at all. Funny old world we all share, Thoughts Guys ?
Bloody hell that came out of nowhere As for selling him the bike back only you know the answer to that one mate...depends on what pulls on your heartstrings the most his story or your love of the bike Take him to the cleaners .....
To be honest bikerman I've been in his position regrets wise a few times, but not ever been in his position regards buy back !! As you say Tough decision. But I love it But I always fear other bastards on the road though, as even simple tumble would write off paintwork (As you know insurance companies don't cover custom paint jobs) may also be a bit of cautiousness on my part also.
As you say Tez it 's a tough one, unless you have another bike in mind, why would you sell it?, It's not as if you have put massive miles on it since you bought it which might have made your decision easier.
No time limit it seems - "JUST DONT SELL IT TO ANYONE ELSE HE SAYS" As for Dilli get what you see good advice, straight for the throat/ jugular. and no prisoners,- You have no idea how many threatening text's, death threats and letters I've had from him since mentioning I may sell my trailer
Correct Dougie less than 3k miles so good as if not better since I bought it. No other bike in mind had dabbled with the idea of another trike, FYI - Its only got 6.5K miles on it
If you sell it back to him mate then you have to get top dollar for it then you can buy another one the same model or better and have some dosh in your sky rocket If you get a BLACK one I can put some red stripes on for ya Got enough left
also I suppose if it didn't have the paint job on it,that would make it easier too, then if it was me I would sell it and buy a newer one with less miles on it for the same price, you could always get another paint job done but you would have to factor that into the cost of a new one
Shhhh......if he gets a ickle bike he might sell me his trailer You know the one he NEVER uses Just saying
I am with Dilli on this, move it on, (he is barely over the honeymoon with Nudger & is already lusting after a Rocket 3!), take it as an opportunity to fleece the guy who clearly wants it back. Or... confirm that you will give him first refusal on a buy back in exchange for that lubberly custom lid to match!
If you're at one with her Tez and you truly love her(and let's face it, she's a bonny lass) then could you really give her up without regrets further down the line ?
Keep it for as long as you want it or you will regret it as much as he now is. Just tell him that he will always have first refusal if and when you decide to move on
Tez, just had another thought (I know 2 in a single day! ) Perhaps said 'Businessman' was a bit of a wrong-un ... even a money launderer, maybe there is rolls of cash hidden in the frame/handle bars or elsewhere on the bike , sorry I am rambling , probably just wants the bike back, gonna have to get Nursie to up my meds!
Don't sell her you will regret it. Best thing to do is get a new custom Paint job. Like @dilligaf said in BLACK you can also get matching helmet leathers and Boots . Tucker
Ah! ..... did the former owner look like this?? Alright, alright going to nursey for meds now , I remember when this forum was fun ...... FFS!
