I’m starting this thread so I can post up photos of our road trip which starts on Tuesday. A friend and I (me on my Speed RS and him on his S1000R) will be leaving UK Tuesday morning for a 2500 miles trip to Alicante and back over 12 days via Channel Tunnel and France. 4 days riding each way and 4 days chilling at a friends villa.

It’s our first big trip abroad, we have all the gear and a fair idea of what we are doing, excited and nervous lol.

Did a dry run this morning with all the gear loaded all seemed fine. Good to go I think!

Did many of trips like you are going on but we always come back along the west coast route. Don't rush and take in the culture and views.

Day 1. 450 miles of great French roads. No traffic and some splendid scenery.

What a great trip. Assume you are staying with Chris at motobreaks. If so, please say hello from brummie John, the guy who rode his Bonnie home. He will know who I am. :)

A few more from today. Made the mistake of going into central Bordeaux but managed to get an nice shot of the cathedral. From there headed for the Pyrenees via col du somport with a stop at canfranc estacion before heading into Jaca for our overnight stop. A beer and some tapas in town and ready for a relatively short ride tomorrow to Teruel

Day three, 360 miles. From Jaca to Teruel via a quick detour to ride the N-260 (top road not bottom). Quite honestly the best road I’ve ever ridden. Had a lot of fun and really tested the bikes handling and brakes (even loaded up the speed was sublime!).

Across some not so nice A roads through the desert towards Zaragoza then to finish the N-420 down to Teruel. This is a great road in places, it’s wide and smooth with relatively little traffic and some really fast sweeping bends.

Caught the tail end of a hailstorm 15 miles before Teruel but the gear kept us dry although those stones did hurt as they hit!

Last day today onto Algorfa for a well deserved 4 day rest at the villa before returning home (different route).

I’m loving this touring malarkey and I’ll definitely be doing more (funds permitting!).

Absolutely fine. We did nearly 460 miles on day 1 with no problems. The street is comfortable for me (I’m 5’ 6”) much more so than my street.

I’ve got a powerbronze screen fitted not sure it makes much difference but I like it.

Currently enjoying chilling at the villa for a few days before our ride home starting Wednesday.
