Hey all, just bought a Speed Twin and I have a 1800 mile trip ahead of me in June. Wondered if the OEM Triumph T120 Comfort Seat fits it at all? http://cdn.boatsandcycles.com/45b6f3f2f46611e5bcac22000ae41c10.jpg Also, if any of you know of a good side luggage set? https://chainspeed.co.uk/luggage/sw-motech-legend-gear/pannier-sets/sw-motech-legend-gear-side-bag-set-for-triumph-t120-16/ I know the bike is fairly new and there isnt yet much out there but the season is upon us! Many thanks in advance! Cs
I would also highly recommend a large size wind screen. 1800 miles without one will be tough. And a fly screen does not do much. See mine on my Street Twin. Works well. I can ride all day at any speed without getting tired. Triumph probably makes one similar for the Speed Twin.
After my test ride, I asked my dealer to try a T120 seat on the Speed Twin, it doesn't fit. I believe you can cobble Thruxton luggage onto the Speed \Twin.
I've just ordered a C Bow pannier frame and a pair of 22L cases for our trip to Holland in 3 weeks. All I need now, is my bike...................
Thanks mate, I really don't want to take the Tiger Sport which will clock over 20,000 miles in 2 years.
From H&B direct or somewhere local? I don't have a Speed twin yet either, but I've a pretty good idea when I will
From a dealer in the UK. Frames are 7-10 days delivery, cases in stock. I will post pics when they arrive and if I ever get my bike.....
I never used leather panniers, let alone waxed cotton ones on any of my Meriden twins and don’t feel the urge to do so now. Canvas bags belong on sidevalve Beesas in my book, or decrepit Royal Oilfields.... I’ve never liked arriving with damp, musty luggage! I’ve got some generic modern, nylon throw overs but I don’t find I make much use of them. H&B look good and have a good reputation. I don’t know whether Cravens would clear the upswept silencers? For looks alone I think I’d go for the Cravens on a T100 or T120... probsbly H&B on a Street, to suit the more modern lines.
Cracking bike mate. Must admit I had not considered luggage for my bike. I will be interest in your final solution.... Wessa
Update on luggage, Hepco and Becker C Bow frames for Speed Twin are on 3 weeks back order. So, not soon enough for my Netherlands trip, but the order stands for them. I will be using my Oxford throwovers short term.
Did you have any luck with this? I'm about to start my purchase of a Speed Twin, and would like to be able to fit a screen and perhaps hand-guards for touring France. They'd be removed for local use. Also aiming for the dealer to throw in some heated grips...
Have just fitted these Hepco & Becker rails and 30 Lts panniers. Great quality, good fit and feel tough, though not cheep as chips. They are easily removable. Should now have plenty of room for a weeks trip with the wife to Fance next year ( pending Brexit......)
Yes! I got the panniers and I'm so pleased with them, I bought the top box and rear rack to go with them. All good quality stuff.
You need one of these .... It doesn't affect your handling and tyre wear increases minimally. You can carry much more and fuel economy is still good. My America gets 20-21 klms litre solo and better than 17•5 klms litre two up and 100 plus kgs in the trailer. I've towed trailers since new on my 09 America , done 127,000 klms on her and she still running sweet . Cheers capt
So in the end, I got some “generic” throw-overs for Xmas, from my daughter. Must have a trip to the lock-up to find the waterproof covers from the Oxford ones that I don’t use. Useful sort of size, not waterproof but handy things. I fancy the H&B ones for any serious touring, but I don’t see that happening any time soon, so no urgency
