I have a black, 1997 T509 Speed Triple for sale. 51k miles. In Oxted, Surrey, UK. Only £400. Why so low a price? Please read all the below, so you know what you're getting. It's been SORN'd for a few years. Kept in a dry garage until 1 year ago, when it had to go outside, but was kept covered and sheltered. Was regularly started until about 8 months ago. Am selling it because I am not using it any more, and it deserves to be used. Am advertising it here, before putting on eBay as I'd prefer it to go to a Triumph lover, not a trader. Hence part of the reason why a low price. The other reason is that when I came to start her up the other day, she wouldn't start. Battery won't take any charge, so she definitely needs a new battery. Jumping her from another bike and she turns over, but won't fire up - so I'm guessing a blocked fuel line, maybe a spark plug issue or similar. She definitely fired up ok last time I tried, around 8 months ago, so I don't think it is anything major, but I don't have the time or the inclination (as I am selling her for a low price anyway) to find and fix this. Hence the low asking price. Also, as she wont start, is not insured, taxed or MoT'd, it will need to be trailered away, not ridden away. I have the V5 in my name and address (I bought her in 2009), and past MoT certificates. Last MoT'd in 2016, and has done only 500 miles since that MoT. No offers - I'm not into haggling. I've been honest about the situation with the bike, so please only get in touch if you are interested at the advertised price. If I don't sell it on here, it'll go on eBay or Gumtree. I'd like to see her go to a good home - we've had some good times together! Hey, it's even got a twin output scottoiler fitted And I'll throw in the Haynes manual too! Chris
Hi Chris, I'm sure someone will snap your hand off. My fettling skills are non existent so not for me though. Good luck and is a good thing you do
Chris A Welcome to the Family. If I were closer to you I would be at your door begging to take it from you. But you know its worth much much more. Regards Joe.
No problem - I'll take some more pics later today when I have a minute. Some more pics I already have are attached, but I'll get some close ups. Not been bumped or dropped, at least not since I've had it. In vgc, age considering. Very slight peeling of the black paint on the engine in a couple of places, if I remember, but definitely nothing major. I put a new rear shock on her a number of years ago. Wheels come up very nice when polished up - won't show so well in the pics, but you'll get an idea. I haven't done an HPI check, but was clean when I bought it (with no finance). I bought it from Carl Rosner Triumph in Sanderstead - reputable Triumph dealer. May be a couple of flat spots on the tyres from where it's been stored, but I cant actually see any from looking, and was stored on soft ground, so that would have helped avoid that problem. Close up photos to follow later. If we get to the stage where someone is interested, am happy to PM the reg number, so you can do your own checks before visiting. Chris
Does look a beauty, hopefully a relatively quick fix for an experienced person with the time and money. I would be interested too, but already have a project bike and the wife wouldnt talk to me if I got a third bike
I’d have ripped Chris’s arm off if he wasn’t nearly 300 miles away It’ll be a great little project for someone
Exactly These bloody things are never just down the road are they I would of got this ready and on the road for the GMU So there’s the challenge for @Dozers Dad
You spotted it quicker than me I was at FECKIN WORK Be nice to see it at the GMU though Might even buy it off you if you ride it up to show me
Now sold. Thanks for all the interest. Glad it's going to be looked after and ridden - she didn't deserve to be shut in a garage for most of the year!
A happy ending, bought my Blade recently off a fireblades forum member, it was a really good experience and he was a top bloke as well, chucked in loads of stuff.
