I’m starting this thread to document my journey across Europe. With my wife as a pillion on my Explorer 1200, we’ll be visiting 14 countries in a total of 18 weeks. I’ll try my best to document the highs and hopefully little lows of the trip. Starting April 23rd from Leeds, UK.
Fully loaded test run from Leeds up to Glasgow taking the scenic route on the A76 calling in at Drumlanrig Castle on the way. First time riding twos up with all the luggage felt surprisingly good
Nope, this is my first. We plan on going as Far East as Bosnia and all way to southern Spain but no further north than Poland.
A very rough guide to our route through Europe... Any recommendations on places to visit please drop them in here ???
The red indicates the route to Portugal where we have a wedding in August then heading home from there via the blue line
Now, Sam, that's my kind of tour. Last year i toured Russia for a month then to Latvia and so on. Total of 2.5 months. Funnily Henry Coles greatest motorcycle rides are showing most of the route i took in Russia on TV at the moment.
Invested in some Rok Straps for the extra luggage on top of my panniers. Drove 5 hours to Scotland with them and they worked absolutely perfect. Really easy to attach to the bike as well. I would definitely recommend at just £10 a pair instead of using normal bungy cords.
Hi Sam,I did a similar trip 3 years ago, city's id recommend are Sarajevo in Bosnia Herzegovina,Dubrovnik in Croatia and Seville in Spain,Austria was Fantastic to ride through and a definite do not miss would be Pico's De Europa mountain roads in Northern Spain, stunning roads and scenery
First stop Amsterdam. Caught the overnight ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam. Me, my wife and the bike for £76, bargain if you ask me
Newcastle to IJmuiden, more likely? Looking good! I'll be travelling the other way in four weeks time...
A beauty drive from Dortmund to Hannover through the countryside and woodlands. More coffee stops and some spotting of old German bikes
Wow ! Great looking bike and what a fantastic trip ! Loving my Speed Triple RS but have to say the idea of touring on a Tiger looks like huge fun
