    So, the highly responsive, quite sensitive, but very quick steering, comes at the cost of a little twitchiness – that's a really helpful comment Richard; something that I can relate to :)

    Insurance renewal time, has anybody had any problems getting insurance or found it expensive with a QS fitted? I'm looking for any recommendations.....

    Some insurers I spoke to freaked out about the QS; others didn't. To be honest, a couple of them were bothered by a little bit of carbon.

    I've found that it's best not to speak to anyone and just do it all online. If the insurer doesn't ask, and there's provision to cover accessories without listing them, then that (for me) is an ideal situation.

    Hastings asked for the value of the bike on their web form, and also the value of any accessories that were fitted. I recorded £2,000 of accessories and it only made a difference of about £25. This value appears on the policy document itself...and there were no questions asking what they are.

    Perfect :)

    Insurers appear to be leading you not to telephone these days - in the case of Hastings Direct, I've found them to be really hard to call (an hour wait last week), but brilliant once you get through.

    I have spoken to Hastings, they told me after talking to their underwriter they don't cover bikes with QS!

    I guess that's my point. I signed up online (their preferred method). I 'confessed' to having accessories and stated a value. They didn't ask any further questions and issued a policy with the accessory value clearly indicated.

    So it's their lack of questioning...and not me withholding information. I don't see how they could challenge any future claim.

    Have you tried BeMoto? They talk biker language, understand that a billet brake reservoir doesn't increase the likelihood of an accident, and there's a discount if you contact them by first doing a comparison quote on The Bike Insurer.

    I always use the phone when insuring my bike and have a check list of things I want/need on my policy :)
    Heart condition/tow bar and trailer etc :confused:
    I ask for a paper copy to be sent through the post and run through my check list again making sure everything is on it :)
    If it’s not :( I’m back on the phone again until it’s sorted :)

    That's a very safe approach...but I feel comfortable with what I've done, having only told the truth.

    There's probably a clause that says I have to advise them of any modifications...it's just stupid that they'd ask for accessory value and not ask what they are...and take your money. When I tried to call (because I did think of checking) there was an hour's wait and I rang off. Three times.

    That's insurance I suppose :tired_face:

    It did say in the small print on one of the sites I looked at today, 'don't include the value of modifications'. The only way you're going to find out if you are covered is to make a claim!

    Have been with BEMOTO for a few years. They are brilliant to talk and genuinely excited that you’ve got a new bike. The premium hasn’t gone up for extras added

    They'll all different...it's a nightmare :confounded:

    That's why I was surprised to find Hastings asking for them as a separate figure. You're right about having to claim to find out...the last thing any of us wants to have to do.

    They weren't competitive for me this year, but next year they should be better (they told me, I need another year of no claims for a bike over 1000cc).

    As you said...they were the only company that had a 'sounds like a great bike' attitude. They also knew what a cat-back slip-on was :grinning:

    Just booked a powder coating for my lower exhaust shield - thanks for the idea. I had one of those, "Why didn't I think of that?" moments looking at your photo. Nicely done!

    Get an Online quote from bennetts, with a bike so loaded with extras I see no point In saying it has a QS fitted.
    No probs matey, just make sure when you get it back you place an old sheet under the bike in case you drop it :weary_face::joy:

    Can I just check what prep you need to do before applying - checking the product details it suggests having to mix with thinners - did you use it straight out of the can? Thanks in advance.

    When you say out of the can...I used the aerosol version, which is a doddle to use. I cleaned the parts with isopropyl alcohol then applied 5 very light coats, leaving about 20 mins between each.

    The first coat isn't much more than a dusting, but it soon builds up nicely. The texture in my photo is the metal underneath - the plastidip is really thin, like a balloon skin, but very opaque.

    Be careful with it while it's still fresh, as you can catch and tear the surface.
