I took out a speed twin a few weeks ago. Absolutely loved it. If I could have two bikes then the speed twin would definitely be joining my speed triple in the garage.

 

Hi Nikki, it is always good to go and try different bikes. You have to go with what you know best about your bike(s) and speaking to you in Germany last year and your recent posts here I reakon the suzuki is the current bike for you.....

 

Have you tried a Speed Triple, you might trade in your Bonny and your VStrom

 

My very first Triumph was a Street Triple which was a fantastic bike which I loved but traded in because I was afraid of losing my license because I just couldn’t stop myself giving it the beans all the time. I would imagine a Speedy would be the same.
The Wasp is a keeper at least for another 3 or 4 years.

A Tec cam and some better tyres and you can keep up with the Speed Twin for a lot less than 3000 euro's

 

Just ordered the Avon Storm 3D X-M (front and rear). The sooner those Pirellis are off the better

 

Knowing me I’d probably still give it the beans. That’s why me and sports bikes are not a good combo

+1 for Avon Storms - I fitted them to my T120 and the handling is so much better.

 

It makes you wonder doesn’t it. The tyres track every line and imperfection in the road and the bike just doesn’t go round corners. God knows why Triumph fitted them. They are easily the worst tyres I’ve ever had and I’ve been riding since 1975

 

I'm sure it's a cost issue and it's not just Triumph either.
A few years ago I bought a brand new Hon*a CBF1000 with shocking rubber (can't remember what they were, but dealer said factory "did a deal" with the tyre company) - I changed them for Pilot Roads and difference was amazing.
Manufacturers seem to be solely concerned with profits now (witness the crap finish on today's Bonnies).

 

Agree plus x pipe, different cans. DNA air filter, booster plug, Hagon Nitros progressive springs Avon storms etc etc and now its a speed twin in disguise and it only cost me erm.......well not quite 3000 euros...but I am happy !!!

Phantoms were a very good tyre back in the 80s, I had them on a CB750 back then and I did get over 42 degrees on a switchback road.
Today's rubber on the present Phantoms I be looking at 25 degrees from vertical. Front is very vague, you have to pitch the bike in very early on the bend to get it to go round tidy. I've done nearly all the mods save the front springs as I need to machine up a plastic socket for the top nut and the tyres which will be avons.

 

If Triumph are going to put shit tyres on their bikes and customers have to get rid of them, why don’t they just let customers pick their own tyres to be fitted on delivery.
I’ve read on the TriumphRat forums no end of complaints about these tyres
