Just be careful what you wish for Andy,,,,,,some may be offering you to smoke something that’s personal to them especially if you get pished again
Sorry to hear you are not coming Andy, however what with trip in May / GMU & then the extension of that trip. That’s quite a lot in a relatively short period, especially if one is working. But I’m still coming!
I was just looking at your last day’s route. As a local might I suggest you take a right at the Mountbenger X roads and go via the B709/B711 to Hawick then pick up your planned route to Bellingham? It is a nice nadgery deviation on quiet roads through the hills. The crossroads turn is a couple of miles past St Mary’s Loch immediately adjacent to The Gordon Arms. https://www.thegordonarms.com/about.htm
@Rich Bryce The road south from Ayr to Newton Stewart is more like a forest road, and last summer it was closed. I would avoid it, nobody from D&G uses it as a bike route. Better route is coast to Girvan, then down to Newton Stewart. Bloody great chippy at Girvan - graziano's (Like Rossi's dad). I might well join you for the Friday & Saturday sections of your ride
@Rich Bryce a cracking route would be once you get to Irvine take the A71 to Strathhaven then take the B743 to Muirkirk (The fun starts there I did that last year it's a cracker) then the A70 to Logan from there take the B741 to Dalmellington then the A713 to New Galloway then the brilliant A712 (The Queens Way) to Newton Stewart..sounds more complicated than it is here's the route it 's longer than just going down the coast but it's much more fun! The route is 100 miles
Sorry guys & gals, will not be able to make the post GMU 19 Nc500+. I will however be attending the GMU itself. Rich if there are any expenses involved to date please let me know.
I'm going to have to pull out as well I'm afraid. Too much going on. If you've incurred any costs because of me Rich, pm me.
