I have just phoned MCE who i am currently insured with and last year it was £120 now they suddenly want £155 i wouldn't mind but nothings changed other than i have clocked up another years NCB,so i am now going to start the ring around process, can anyone suggest a cheaper company?

Its a little difficult as its a custom classic but on talking to the rep last year i listed the mods and came to the conclusion that it wasn't worth going agreed value as the cost of replacing the std parts on a like for like basis that most insurance companies use (if available or could even be found) would be around 5 to 10 times the price of the custom parts so was not worth it.

I would ring them and tell them that you have a better quote from another company and see if they improve there offer. If that does not work try google for custom classic motorbike insurance. My mate has a couple of classics and does get cheap insurance, but I cannot remember the company. He is on holiday so can't ask him otherwise I would let you know.

Just had to insure my car :(
It had gone up £85
Went on one of those compare sites and got quotes £150 cheaper :grinning:
Phoned admiral up and they reduced it £50 to try and keep me
It didn’t work and I went with someone else instead but if you threaten to leave them they’ll probably reduce the quote :)

Always the same every year. I use moneysupermarket to get a better deal then call my insurer, they almost always drop their price. This year they wanted almost 200 quid more as i have moved address , same area and same first 3 digits of postcode. I got a quote online which bettered their quote and called to cancel my cover with them, they miraculously came down in price and I am now paying 40 quid less than last year.
You have to watch some of these comparison sites though coz some quote you then when you call them to take the insurance up they go through the questions again and the price goes up a bit.
TBH I find it easier to get good quotes for my car than for my bike.

Last year my car insurance went down not its gone up by £35 (same company) tried to get cheaper but couldn't by much and loose driving other cars third party so i have had to swallow the new quote.
Trouble is the car and the bike all expire at the same time.:(

I always put my toe in the water so to speak when it comes to any insurance renewal time for our cars, houses, motorcycles etc.

I’ve got a few classic bikes and for the last few years I’ve used Peter James Insurance

    https://www.peterjamesinsurance.co.uk/

Just remember though because a insurance company is cheap doesn’t mean they’re any good, you only find out how good they are when the sh*t hits the fan.
Come to think of it a bit like some motorcycle dealers.

    Ain’t dat de trooth!

Loyalty means nothing any more - hasn’t for years. Shop around but you only know how cheap or expensive it was when you claim.

Don’t forget some insurance companies start Classic Insurance for bikes aged 15 years old or older.

What I’ve found is that when I’ve had a bike aged 15 years or older I contact a company that is a specialists in Classic Insurance and found that they give you a better deal and agreed valuation of your bike :)

Just for closure i ended up going back to Bikesure as they did it for £130 but high excess...but they where the only ones that would cover me for riding another bike TPFT...bit like the car i stuck with the same one for the same reason.
