Which Bonneville To Get If Thinking Of Doing A Few Track Days

I havent been riding that long. Looking to buy second bike, after a year at 250cc. Test rode a Street Twin 900 today, and a Street Scrambler, both really nice bikes to ride around traffic. I also want to try some track days... QU 1. how many track days till you wish you had gone for the T120 or the Thruxton ???? qu.2. Where do you find the Triumph track days ?!?!? I’m probably looking 2014 bikes or later, pref 2016 onwards.

 

Buy a cheap sports bike instead, an early CBR600RR for around £3000 would run rings around any Bonnie on the track.

@Hamburg Funny you should mention that particular bike, as i rode one last week, it was a total blast! Just not what i would want to ride around on day to day. Guess i should just buy a bike for the road and rent track bikes by the day but still seems like the Bonne could do more than you’d ever get out of it on normal roads. Or maybe that’s just my impression as an noob.

If your serious about trackdays go along to watch a few and them book yourself on one but not on a Bonneville

I think the Thruxton R is the only Bonnie variant with the mix of performance and posture to make it look like you didn’t take the wrong exit from the paddock.......the rest are too sit up and beg or plain slow!

‘It’s’ is a contracted form of ‘it is’ which, properly speaking, should only be used in reported speech (e.g. He said, “It’s raining.”) and not as the neutral reflexive pronoun ‘its’ (as opposed to his or hers).

Nothing worse than having grammar corrected on an Internet forum, firstly it’s bloody rude, secondly it’s completely unnecessary, he’s not writing an A Level English essay, it’s a sodding motorbike forum for Christ sake.

Yes if I were you I would go with a track ready machine. Have you looked at the 675's. They are fantastic machines and boy they can go. My Son races them and usually does pretty well. The only thing you have to think about is if you have a spill it can be very expensive or a total loser. Welcome to the Forum by the way. Keep us all in the know as to the direction you go.

Joe, the guys not been riding long and only 250’s by the sound of it and in my opinion if he were to throw his leg over a 675 on a track day he’ll not only be a danger to himself but other riders as well.
I think both the 675 & Honda 600rr will be to much of a handful for an inexperienced rider on a trackday.

Probably better off with something like Billy’s 600 Bandit or a Honda 600 steel frame jobby.
