Thinking of going down to Croatia ( Hook of Holland ,Germany, Austria and through Slovenia down the west coast of Croatia to Split ).Anyone been on there bike to Croatia could give me a few tips
Not sure my advice would be relevant. Winter 92/93 in Dalmatian Alps and forays in the snow over mountain tracks on a matte green Armstrong. I think they’ve tidied up a bit since then,....... I think you will find Croatia typically Mediterranean on the coast but inland it is more Greece than southern France if that makes sense. The coastal strip is rocky but well developed for tourism and plenty of Northern Europeans - especially Dutch and German.
Spent plenty of time there in 94,95,96 looked very different back then. Used to dream of porcelain toilets and warm showers sure they have them there now
Lovely country and the roads are awesome. Not ridden there but have been on holiday a couple of time. Did think about taking my bike down, but decided it was a bit to far for me and there are so many other places in Europe with good roads that are closer. Enjoy your planning and trip should you decide to go... Wessa
Route Square and Route Triangle don’t look like they’ve been touched since the Sappers last graded them...... and I hope they’ve unblocked the toilets in the Tuzla hotel because they were seriously rank in 92 and the locals were just topping up back towards the door......I kid you not. Mind you, they were discharging raw sewage into Split harbour for months. War does that......
I have heard from people who has ridden there that it was brilliant. I have ridden to Romania couple of years ago during the month of May The mountain passes were still snowed under. July onwards should be a great run. Decent tires... Tool kit.... Kriega and off you go with a massive grin Also worth looking at the IDP for riding in Europe. All depends on the Brexit. No harm in being prepared This was Romania in late May This was Germany
Hi Chris, the FIM motocamp was in Sibenik in June last year and I and several of the Fosse Riders rode down there. I continued from the Tenten Treffen near Brugge on a Burgman 400 accompanied by Richard on a Ducati . We camped most nights except for two in Zadar. The roads are good, people friendly, fuel no problem. we had to stop for customs in and out of Slovenia, there are motorway toll passes in some countries but not expensive. Traffic when we went was fairly light and we only had two thunder storms in a fortnight. My report is on the Fosse Riders website. BTW I have since blown up the Burgman so the 93 Trophy is still going. Good luck and have a brilliant time.
