Had a great ride out today in prep for my forthcoming epic adventure. Went to N.Wales coast then up through A5 to Pondarosa Llangollen where is saw a load of guys on Trumpets, the sun Yes that thing was shining, after chatting like crazy and full of pie and chips I headed home to Rome...bike btw was faultless .... onwarrrrrd ho!
Can you tell me a bit more about the coil replacement. I'm new to Trophies, in fact don't have one till Thursday when Im picking up a low mileage 2012 model, having ridden a BMW for years. Is there a known issue with the Trophy coil?
Hi, yea I believe its quite a common fault. With mine after riding a few miles it was misfiring on acceleration. Changing the coils is quite easy and takes a few minutes and worth changing the spark plugs at this stage. The awkward part is removing the tank many say you have to remove the trim from around the seat the plastics that is however i got round this by just undoing the bolts along the edge and side and being careful. Thing to look out for is make sure you dont trap the vac pipes to the pet cock and remember where they go on the pet cock. Hopefuly yours is ok , as I say usual faults are Vacuum pipe or coils which you would feel àfter a few miles.good luck .. just holler if I can help more .
3,702 km Done, Bike went well fabulous journey, just New rear pads and service caliper due to sticking piston as I pulled into my drive. Peace all
Stripped rear calliper and serviced it...new pads and by the way whoever makes up these prices seeing as compared to a cars pads are tiny should be flogged with a wet kipper I have bigger pads in My Mountain bike. Anyhoo dont have to do stoppies now..peace
