Rode back from Gosport via Loomies then had to take the long route home via A272 - A29-A24 & Rykers. Lovely day for biking
Test ride on a 1600 Thunderbird. Great bike and I would have bought it had the dealer not changed his initial valuation of my bike as I stupidly mentioned I was taking the footboards and Givi pannier frames off the America. Not that they had even seen the bike when they offered the trade in value. Triumph had also increased the price by £200 since I arranged the test ride... Shit ride back to Brighton at 4 this afternoon into a low and very bright sun. I have been told so many times that accessories rarely add to a bike's trade-in value. Very true, when it suits the dealer. I used to think these guys were so good until the salesman I dealt with many years was moved to another location.
Oh Man!! I have said this in another post. Who was the dealer?? Why when you think you get a bum deal do you not say who you were dealing with???? NAME AND SHAME!!!! That's what it is all about, as soon as these dealers know that there is a network in existence they might think twice about trying to get one over the consumer. I'm not saying they are all in to screw us over and we can't have everything our own way, new thruxton for £4000 please?,, but I have 3 dealers within usable distance and I would like to know who does or doesn't perform. But more importantly they will think that they have to provide a better service than the other to get the custom. The difference might just be some friendly unbiased advice or an unhelpful suggestion. It could create + or - 5 clients in the short run but if they are business savvy it should up their game in the long run, which benefits everyone. old gits rant over!!
OOOH I love my bike, went out again today for a short blast. ended up being 80 miles but for some reason me and the thruxton seemed as one, does it take a year for this to happen?? I just love it!
Although I agree with you in general I've had brilliant service from the dealers and it's just one salesman (who I've found to be perfectly reasonable in the past) who disappointed me today. I'm overreacting perhaps and am just a bit resentful that I didn't get the deal I was expecting.
Just come back from a 100km blast in the sunshine. Upped the pre-load on the TEC gas shocks and found that turn-in on corners pin sharp. Just luverley .................................... Dave
Had my Bonneville T100 since January, just got back from my first blast on it. What a great bike I smiled from start to finish. Only 40 miles this time just get used to the bike and brush up on my ride craft first time on a bike for two years. My new Givi flip front helmet also worked fine.
Got out on mine today a nice 150 miles felt like summer is finally round the corner Even had my summer gloves on for the first time this year
Wife and I did 100 miles in bright warmish sunshine today, headed up around Ashbourne Derbyshire and stopped for coffee and cake in Wetton Mill. Great to be out on the bikes and perhaps the last run out on the Tiger before she goes.
AT LAST! first ride of the year. Did a short local run with my wife on her Street. Went to a couple of dealers and ended up buying some new boots for summer. http://www.tcxboots.com/eng/prodotti-dettaglio.php?prodotto=144
Hi Richard, I understand and accept your reasons, but it does seem a shame as she's such a nice bike. Dave
Yep if money was no object I would keep the Tiger, she does look great and apart from a stepper motor she has been faultless over 8000 miles. As all my riding is on tarmac I should have gone for a road touring machine in the first place, I'm afraid the 21 inch wheel compromises the availability of tyres and handling when riding fast.
Cleaned/serviced the brake calipers after a quite `mucky` 130 mile run through the York`s Dales yesterday!
This the the main thing that puts me off adventure bikes,as you can guess from my forum name I don't do off road and I value good tyres above most things. I know 19" are better, just prefer my 17" rubber.
Gave the front brake a thorough clean, then front wheel including spokes, then back wheel, then 2 hour test ride. Well I had to make sure the brakes were alright, didn't I ?
