    Lads,
she is going in for a service first week in march as she is still under warranty, an Arrow low bow was fitted from new by the original triumph dealer Team Roberts near Doncaster, I would reasonably assume that the mapping would of been changed to suit by Team Roberts, and if so can a K&N air filter be installed or will the dealer carrying out the service in early March Webb's of Lincoln, have to re-map to suit the fitting of a free flowing air filter.

Your standard filter probably flows quite as well as a K&N.......

K&N are well marketed but in reality only Zoso......

Hilltop say don't bother changing air filter as standard one is good.

Callumity/Bryan thank you for the advice, I took the standard filter out to have a look, Unusual position for the air filter but a great piece of Design/engineering with quick easy access. The standard filter feels light in weight. So the standard filter it is

    Les saint,
Nothing to do with servicing, just thought I would congratulate you on your wonderful choice of icon! I was lucky enough to see Zeppelin at Knebworth 1979 as a gobsmacked 15 year old. Ahh them were the days:eek:

Standard filter sounds a wise choice.

For the same total surface area a freer flowing air filter would have to have a greater pore size. If that is the case then filtration levels have gone down leaving the motor more prone to wear.

Everyone is right about the flow of standard filters being good, the only real advantage of the K&N these days is the ability to clean & reuse.
I haven't bothered for years, & it's probably a bit dustier here in oz! ;)
Do the math & see if you think it's worth running the K&N in your situation & conditions.

    "Pissing up the wall" time?

I saw Led Zepp twice in December 1972 when they toured the rune symbols album - the untitled Led Zepp IV. I'd been a fan since the release of the first album though, back in the late sixties & early seventies, airtime exposure was very limited - they were NOT "pop radio" compatible. Tommy Vance was the nearest thing to a rational being on UK radio.

At the time of the tour my only transport was a Norton Commando Interstate (still got it!!) and I was living in Liverpool so the trip home from the London gig at Alexandra Palace was horrendous! I remember being so cold and so tired that I was hallucinating and had to find a service station and some strong, sweet coffee .... and NO, I wasn't smoking anything odd, though may well have ingested enough secondary at the gig to contribute to my state. I must have looked like a wayward tramp as I raided all the litter bins at the service station for newspapers to stuff down the front of my Belstaff jacket and trousers - newsprint is an excellent heat insulator.

I also recall a really weird juxtaposition of a young Asian couple sitting nearby in the otherwise deserted motorway services cafe at about 0200 - nothing unusual in that, other than they were both dressed all in white and I was beginning to think that was part of my hallucinations, too. My wife and I were in our grungy Belstaffs, stiff with cold; dirty from waxed cotton, rain and damp roads; 'Stairway to Heaven' still ringing loud in my crash-hat-crushed ears; bone tired .............. and not even half way to home!

Ahhh, indeed, them WERE the days!

p.s. apologies for further hijacking the thread.

I have always had a soft spot for Tangerine.......

Mind you I was at Knebworth in ‘78 - Genesis topped the bill with this freaky new thing called a laser light show. Various other acts from Devo to Jefferson Starship but the show stealers were some bunch called Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.

    An enhancement not a hijack!

I got quite dewy eyed at the memory of cold, stiff, grit laden waxed cotton.
