Hello everyone, I'm new to riding and plan on getting my first bike. I have my motorcycle endorsement and have taken many safety courses. Now of course a letter on your license and some courses don't make me a expert by any means but I guess I could say I know the basics? Nevertheless, Ive always been a fan of the Daytona 675 for years and would like to know which used model I should purchase? I would aesthetically the best looking one is the 2010 Model SE in blue and pearl. I know I'm going to hear alot of "Start smaller" and "This shouldn't be your first bike" etc.. but I pretty much set on a Daytona 675.

Thank you both for the support and warm welcome!! Is there anything I should look for in particular that maybe go bad or need a little extra attention when shopping for Daytonas? Also at what miliage is too high or is a precursor for major maintenances to come?
I would look for a bike that has a service history if possible. Most riders will do between 1500 and 2000 miles a year (there are exceptions), so use this as a guide for mileage. Alternatively take somebody who knows their way around bikes with you when you view. Wessa
Thanks for the solid info and input, would you recommend just taking a motorcycle mechanic with me? Not many of my friends or family are super familiar with motorcycles especially used ones.
Just remember, YOsH ... the throttle works both ways. If in doubt, don't! Keeping up with your mates will most likely be way above your current pay grade. Find some nice quiet roads to practice on so that you can build your confidence in you own time and at your own pace. But above all .... ENJOY! Daytona 675?? Why not? Good power/handling/ brakes etc. Just grow into it. Its capabilities are much greater than yours and probably will be for a long, long time. Oh yes .... welcome!
Hi and welcome. Might 'only' be a 675, but they are quick bikes. Take it easy, ride around for while and learn. Find a nice twisty quiet road and teach yourself to ride, not just how to pass a test. +1 on ride by yourself for a bit, if you do go out with others, be smart and ride to your abilities, not the other guys. Took me 2/3 years to get up to anywhere like the speed of experienced riders. Shiny side up and enjoy the bike.
I had a 2015 Daytona 675 R and absolutely loved it, the only bike I’ve regretted selling,I’ve had a few bikes over the years and can say with total commitment it’s the best bike I’ve owned. Won’t say it’s any better than other 675 models but awesome nonetheless.
Welcome aboard YOsH, hope you enjoy the forum, you've received sound advice already, you may narrow your options a little by having a specific colour choice and try not to view with rose coloured glasses on, that said, I hope you find just the bike for you and begin to enjoy the joys of riding.
