What’s wrong with me? Here is the view from my hotel room and I’d rather be rebuilding Mikuni carbs and replacing fork seals in a dark cold garage.

Hmmmm, I wonder if I will need to get a new rear shock? Don’t forget a new set of stainless steel fasteners....oh yeah rocks and sand.

If it were me, once the bike is usable, I would start with std. gearing as a benchmark, then change as necessary.

The biglad, I should start at the stock gearing and adjust from there, it’s just my sprockets and chain are shot and I need to replace, I was thinking of trying to start with one up on the rear but maybe I should leave well enough alone and go stock.

Ok boys, pretty good day today. Not too cold, managed to get the engine out and the forks, as well as mark the cut points. I could not find my angle grinder; that tells me my shop is a hot mess. I will spend tomorrow cleaning up and putting tools away. I will collect all the scrap pieces and un clutter the work area so that Monday I can cut my evil sub frame away and go to the dealer and make my initial parts order. I was happy to see everything in dirty but good shape.

Check out my just returned header from Jet hot ceramic coating in Oklahoma. I had my Bonneville exhaust jet hot coated inside and out, 15 years later they still looked great, so assuming I would never find another new old stock 3 into 1 I sprung for the coating.

Lastly for this weekend....what do you all think about these heli-bars I found on the American RAT forum? Kind of sci fi modular, I don't know but it is an option.

Another good day in the garage. I managed to get the engine on the stand so can take off the bits I want to get powder coated. I cut the sub frame off, so no going back now. I put some red primer on the cuts because Im paranoid about rust. It kind of looks like the bike is bleeding; cool.

This build will go forward, I will accomplish something everyday. I have a big summer planned and I will need this bike. as far as paint schemes, I have gone full circle back to my original plan. I am leary about disclosing until I receive my LED lights to see if I can fab up my headlight idea.

Like I said...everyday something will get done, even if its just order parts. Yesterday I ordered a bunch of odds and ends. Today I removed the side cover bits that are going to the powder coater and I am ready to check my valves. I need to look up what the tolerances are since my manual has not arrived yet....

the good news is that I could find no signs of wear on the cams or any metal bits worn off all the geared mating surfaces. I did forget to count the links in the chain before I scrapped it and upon closer inspection my sprockets are not worn, so new chain and job done. Any recommendations on brand ? I always wind up with a DiDi Xchain Oring
