Hello everyone, Okay this may shout ‘mid-life crisis’ but what the heck, you be the judges! I’m the proud owner of a Speed Triple 1050 RS with 600 miles on the clock - I went for the matt black but it was a close run thing... But let’s go back to the start... Some 20 years ago (I was a late starter as am 50 now...) I passed my restricted licence, got myself a Suzuki DR350 and enjoyed some green lane action in the South East for a couple of years. I PX’d that for a T595 Daytona in classic Triumph yellow (since then, nothing but a single sided swing arm will do), hooned around the South of England, popped across to France (keeping within the national speed limits at all times naturally), and also managed a track day at Lydden Hill. I had fallen for the triple big time (I have been tempted with two cylinders since, but never been attracted to four...). Sadly the Daytona had to go when I moved to S Wales (lured like a lamb to the slaughter by a lovely Welsh lass - a familiar tale I’m sure...) and we started a family. Some 12 years passed, opportunity knocked and I managed to get back onto two wheels. Triumph was first choice and the 1050 RS won me over during a short test ride. One rusty rider course later (I was not nearly as rusty as I thought) and I spent the end of the summer last year enjoying the incredible power and assured handling of the 1050 RS. It’s still BS (is that a recognised abbreviation for Bog Standard or have I just invented it?) but have plans for a tail tidy and rad / oil cooler guards in the Spring. I’m looking forward to reading the threads and feeding off the incredible amount of knowledge and experience that I have already found within this forum.
