    Not the Speedmaster, my Vespa.

At the gym this morning, early, slow in the car park - I didn't see the sheet of black ice. Before I knew it, the back wheel went out and down we went. No damage to me; a bust mirror, bit of chrome damage and scuffing.

I post this just as a reminder that you always have to think. I should have known that ground was prone to black ice forming - I've seen it before, and navigated it - but just wasn't thinking.

    Cheers,

    Beerman

As am I. Mind you, I was temporarily discombobulated by the thread title. Thoughts I has accidentally logged into my ‘other’ website

The main thing is you got up with nothing but your pride hurt!!

Vehicles can always be fixed up and it is a reminder given the weather is cooling this week:( even down here.

Yes, I agree. Thing is, this was my first ever 'off'' in over 30 years of riding, It's a reminder!

And, I accept, gym, Vespa, all sounds a bit pretentious...but bear in mind I live in Wolverhampton. Having a Cappuccino is still not quite right round here...

Black Ice = BAD!!! Had an experience crossing the Sierra mountains (California) several years ago. Instant down and sliding for about 100 feet!!! (No injury thanks to riding gear)

    Glad you're OK

Though it's a bit late now, always remember, if nobody saw it, it didn't happen. Glad to hear you're okay.
