That method is generally exactly what I do... Sitting astride with the stand retracted.... Bike level .. But still only fires on second attempt ... It will start first time sometimes but only if you hold it turning over for close to 10 seconds... That is excessive for the starter, battery and should not be necessary for a modern new bike

Welcome to the Family. And I would check your plugs and possibly see if you need a different grade. Also check your fuel pump make sure its not partially blocked or failing. If your bike has had a long time of the road then you may need to throw a fuel cleaner through the system.

A characteristic of batteries that sometimes is missed or not considered by most is that batteries work best between certain temperature's. The first attempt to start can "wake" the battery up and change the internal temperature by several degrees and now it's in the peak performance range and can hold it's voltage when you try to crank/start the engine ! All vehicles with electronic control's (computers) have voltage protection cut out sensors ! Some will be "very" sensitive and cut out ignition !

Your bike still has some of the 2 years warranty left. Have you contacted your local dealer about this issue? I had the common cutting out problem when pulling up which Triumph eventually fixed after a long period of denial (occurred in UK hot weather only). Triumph ought to be testing their products in the territories in which they sell. I was not happy with them with the cutting out issue - I'd would not be happy if I had the problem you have - mine starts on the button every time, all temperatures. If its under warranty they should deal with it.

Did you find the fix for this one?? The 'exact' same thing is happening with my 2019 Thruxton R. And I also live in Queensland.

    thanks
