Yes, that is the way it is supposed to work, but I find that with my 2014 Speed Triple that even with all of my weight on the short lever, I still have to pull up on the footpeg hanger to get the bike onto the stand. Ideally the geometry of the stand should be adjusted a bit to lower the force required to put the bike on the stand, but I guess SWMotech are limited to the available mounting points. Making the lever longer would also help, but that would likely mean that it was interfering with other stuff.

Overall though a great, practical solution for the speed triple.

Really useful post, thank you.... I guess making this mod is the most sensible to do first!

Will it fit 2002 955i, does anyone know...?

Stand delivered, all looks straight forward except...

... does anyone have any photos of how or where the fixing lugs fit to the bike....I feel once I know how the stand attaches to the bike, I'll be ok!

Speeder - can you supply anymore photos, specifically how the fixing lugs attach to the bike? I'm confused....

    Hi Dan,
The lugs are part of the kit, if you follow the instructions as shown in the drawing you won't go wrong. The rear engine mount bolt is replaced with the longer one supplied in the kit which goes through the L shaped bracket.
Is your bike a 955i? I think it is a different set up for that model.
As far as I remember there are two different stand kits for speed triples ..early and later models.......you do have the right one?
I'll try to get some more pics tomorrow.

Many thanks speeder. Yes, 2002 955i. Although the stand I got covers various models, so I understand...

    I didn't realise I'm REPLACING the bolt (s)?

I'm finding it a little hard to get going, but will keep looking...

The lugs are indeed part of the kit...it's just understanding where/what they hang off!

    Any photos gratefully received!!

I've pmd you, if easier, or happy to keep it in the thread.

    Cheers

The stand in bandits link is not the same as the one l Fitted , it actually looks a bit simpler and is for the earlier model.
Is your stand the same as the one in my earlier pics?

Very similar, if not the same... The one I have is from SW Motech and fits various triples. I guess your triple is a more recent one - it's certainly shinier! But any insight on the lug attached to the engine will really help.

    @speeder:

Based largely on your walkthrough post above, I purchased an SW motech centerstand for my 2013 Speedie.

    It just arrived.

I am pretty handy; if I can find means to lift my bike, I might try installing this centerstand myself.

How long did it take you with your install?
