Nice - used to play "fantasy garage" with my son when he was younger and interested in bikes and cars - before he found girls. We'd have £1 million to spend and would argue for somethings inclusion (before Top Gear's cool wall).
Went into the Specialist bike shop or whatever its called in Sheffield before Christmas. I was just drooling over a mint original V reg. 2000 mile CBR 600 when a guy appeared. It's a real weird layout shop, more like the corner of a multi storey car park with a little barrier to create the area; just weird! I comments to the guy, assuming he worked there, that he had a varied selection of clean classics. His reply was Oh no this is the scrap yard you want to look in there, pointing to a closed door. I stick my head through to be greeted with an hello from down the corridor. First five bikes on the left were spanking Ducati's and created an impression especially when you looked at the tags umm..... £ 72k was the first..... WHAT! yep £72 000.00 Next one was a bit cheaper, think it was £53k and so it went on LOL, I reckon that first five bikes was a cool 1/4 million plus (sterling for our overseas friends). They had quite a variety plus various oddballs, anyone remember the Honda NR 750?
Blaahhhdy ell, just checked their website. Some seriously good bikes in there, didn’t even know it existed, thanks for that. There’s these guys too http://steelcityclassics.co.uk/product-category/classic-bikes if your budget doesn’t stretch to house buying territory, they are upstairs in SMC near to Wicker Arches.
It’s not in the same league as The specialist but they have some decent stuff, including an X75 Hurricane a while back.
Specialist had a lovely MV Augusta 800 brutale Hamilton model. Red spoked rear wheel on a single sided swingarm looked gorgeous. Yours Sir just...... Drum roll.... £20k
Yep I remember both the Honda NR750 & NR500. Got a picture somewhere of a NR750 that I took whilst at a bike show in Santander, Northern Spain. Also saw Mick Grant in 1979 slide off the NR500 at Copse corner on the first lap of the British GP, Silverstone.
[QUOTE Also saw Mick Grant in 1979 slide off the NR500 at Copse corner on the first lap of the British GP, Silverstone.[/QUOTE] Well at least it saved him rattling to a halt after 2 laps, them things made fragile bikes look reliable .
£80k that’s peanuts https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-RC...868743?hash=item3b1e25de87:g:HiEAAOSwfEdbsi5U
I've had dealings in the past with SMC wouldn't recommend (based on my experience though may have been a one off, but wouldn't deal with them again )
I thought it was going to be the one where I got my Triumph from When I said where is it then? The answer was " we don't want kids climbing all over it and scratching the tank so it's in the warehouse " Something around £200k if I remember correctly.
