I look after the critical systems that keep the Internet up and running... If a server goes down or a client loses connectivity then it costs them and sometimes us a lot of money.... For example 1 client has an SLA of €1 per second when they lose connectivity... If you mean WWW then World Wide Web.. From the Ground to the Cloud | Interoute Communications I also look after a lot more far boring stuff but hey that's my worry.....
 After 37 years in the fire and rescue service, all i can help with is if your bikes on fire I could put it out. ....Oh my phone number , get a pen...... 999
FF, some of your colleagues helped me out of a cattle grid I got stuck in in the snow. An incredibly embarrassing moment a couple of weeks ago that I may, or may not share properly with you lot! Got to hand it to you guys for what you do day to day, you're a brave, selfless (if slightly wired to the moon) lot. Thanks for being there for the rest of us, pal.
OK, as I'm sure you're all really nice folks that won't take the piss in any way, shape or form, here is the post I put up on Facebook the day it happened. I'm a very strong believer in that if you can't laugh at yourself you shouldn't be laughing at others. And believe me, I firkin laugh at others... OK, here we are with over a foot of snow - except where it's drifting up to four feet! Seriously! And it's showing no signs of stopping. I had a very, very embarrassing accident this morning - not in a vehicle I hasten to add. I was trying to dig Gail's car out and (for those of you that know what a skinny firker I am this should be especially amusing) my leg slipped through a cattle grid right up to half way up my thigh! Why a cattle grid should be that deep I really have no idea - 6 inches deep would still stop the sheep! Well, I couldn't get my leg out and I thought I might even have broken it such was the pain. A passing couple in a tractor (honest - a farmer was taking his wife to work) stopped while I was still trying to get my leg out and phoned for the emergency services. Very soon afterwards an ambulance and the fire brigade turned up. Now bear in mind that I live near the top of a mountain so the whole village is terraced. The village hall, where Gail left her car, is near the bottom of the village so it's like I'm in an amphitheatre with me on stage and everyone else looking down. Very embarrassing! The fire brigade had to use some fairly hefty equipment to prise the bars of the grid apart to let me out. They asked me how it happened and I told them some big boys did it! They informed me that it would be on Youtube this afternoon. Everyone found it quite amusing, thanks folks! Luckily I've not actually broken anything but I'm going to be off work for a few days. I'm personally going to go and thank all concerned, including the fantastic nurses at Holywell Hospital, once I'm able but if by chance any of you should happen to see this, thank you - from a dick-head!
Ewe are very lucky not to be injured mate, i bet ewe were acting very sheepish with all those onlookers
I trained to be a machanic afer leaving school, then did building work, kitchen and bathroom fitting and then went to work for The Bradford & Bingley as a Facilities Manager for well over 16 years before they went under in 2008 after the Northern Rock fiasco. Im now a Facilities Manager for a small Investment Bank in the City!...
