    Have a good look inside the distributor cap, on cars I have worked on , the cap with age can develop tiny fissures and cracks, these can fill with dirt and cause the spark to "track" to earth ! Hence no spark at the plug !

    That and corrosion/erosion of the cap terminal and rotor arm.

    It’s been a while but I am hoping to get a newly rebuilt distributor back from the distributor doctor this week.
    Seemed a heavy price but hopefully it will get her going again.... updates to follow

    Glad to report new dizzy received and fitted along with new plugs and battery.. timing etc all reset Runs like a dream. Reason for issues are that there was a bastardised D1 distributor in there.
    A huge thank you to all that have given advise it is very much appreciated
