Just getting ready for a trip to Southwold. I'm going to go on the Explorer. The weather doesn't look too bad for the trip.

Had a very good run to Southwold arrived just in time for lunch.the wind was behind me all the way which was great. The A47 was extremely busy as far as Wisbech.
Tomorrow my son and myself will be out on the Explorers, we intend to do a circular trip up into Norfolk,

fitted some new brake pads front & back on the America , went out for a ride yesterday to just kind of bed them in & a woman in a white Porsche kindly helped the job along nicely by quite suddenly swapping lanes in front of me without indicating . They work just fine :)

Yes indeed Richard. Snug as a bug in a rug.:upyeah:

Covered over 100 miles today. Rode the Norfolk coastal road from Southwold to Wells next the Sea, then headed inland to Norwich and back to Southwold. It's was very cold and windy but we managed to miss any snow.

Yes Clarkey, I've been retired for a few years now. I try to get out on the bike whenever possible. My favourite road in the UK must be the A458 from Shrewsbury to Mallwyd through mid Wales. There are some good minor roads off it.
My aim before I pop my clogs is to try and ride as many A roads in the UK as possible.:upyeah:

I've ridden that road from Shrewsbury. There are some fantastic roads mid wales. If you head a little further south in Wales you will find the Black mountains, back in 2013 I had my Speed Triple and loved riding the roads (probably a little too fast) around there. Probably for the best I sold this bike, rode it like a teenager

Great bit of video Richard. I've ridden through the Black Mountains a fair few times. Great when the sun is out and behind you.

Persuaded the Mrs that we should get out on the bikes today, plenty of salt down but the roads were reasonably dry. Headed up into the Derbyshire Peaks and as we gained altitude there was more and more snow. Tried some of the minor roads and some were plain unsafe to ride but all in all a nice day out and a warming coffee at Matlock Bath

    Nice pictures Richard.

I've just got back home from Southwold. Stayed on a few extra days to help my son out with a project. I decided to give my usual route through the fens a miss and came home by the A12 and A47. There were a few loons on the Acle Straight giving their motorcycles a brisk thrashing. A couple passed me doing well over the ton:wink:. Very exhilerating but I was not tempted to join in..

Pulled my 1964 Registered Thunderbird, actually 1963 frame and engine, apart yesterday. Getting Nacelle and speedo ammeter wiring mess etc of came across something I'd not seen before. A 3/16" screw 3" down each fork leg, extending and hitting spring guider tube fixed to fork cap. Turns out this screw is for filling leg with oil! This saves taking off nacelle assembly, fork caps etc to change fork oil through headlamp opening! Trouble is someone had put too long screws in which went through spring coil, preventing max compression etc. Only found this out by calling Hawkshaw Motorcycles who were brilliant even photocopying PRE UNIT fork diagram from one book and inserting it into book for my 63 UNIT Triumph. Very very helpful and enthusiastic was Jim, cannot commend him enough. They trade under British Bike Doctor on ebay.

All those fancying filling a fork leg via a 3/16" hole step forward..fancy eh Unit bike with PRE UNIT forks, they must have had plenty of pre unit fork assemblies left during that first year of unit constuction, no wonder there's no such thing as an illustrated parts list for that year.

After a few quiet days I'm getting ready for a trip to Plymouth. I'm going on the Explorer, it might be my last run out on it before I have to return it to my mate Gavin.
