I was thinking of Findhorn. Trouble is it's always rammed so parking is a pain. Nevertheless, probably worth the effort, that and Spey Bay for the Dolphins.

Outline route for the round trip. Roughly 1140 miles.

Any ideas on rough hotel cost? I'm interested in this but would need to be able to sweeten the deal with the wife to gain her blessing!

The guys that are doing this will be staying at hostels, roughly £20-£25 a night..If you were to stay in hotels you might get a single room for about £50-£60. for a double room you might get one for approx £80

Don't you worry about that Jim lad, we're not going to start taking any notice of you now. By the way, litre bottles of JD Honey £20 at Tesco's for the next couple of weeks.

We do two or three trips a year, so trying to keep costs down on this one. You're more than welcome to join us and book separate/upgrade accommodation.

Here's the plan as we stand.

Sunday 20th July - Pitlochry Youth Hostel. Highly recommended. Deposit paid on male and female bunkrooms. I can add you. Alternatively there are good of hotels nearby.

Monday 21st - Portsoy Sail Loft Bunkouse. Private twin and triple rooms booked for the chaps and single for Nikki. Really good quality. You can book your own twin. No hardship at all. I had the whole place to myself last year (Sprinter brought over breakfast). I fed well and got well oiled on food and booze previous guest had left.

Tuesday 22nd - Kyle of Tongue Hostel and Holiday Park. Shared standard hostel rooms booked. There are superior rooms available. Looks good. Some hotels nearby.

Wednesday 23rd - Morags Lodge in Fort Augustus. Bunk rooms reserved. Supposedly high quality hostel. There plenty of hotels nearby.

Thursday 24th - Possibly Torran Bay Hostel. I haven't yet booked our rooms, cos it's pay up front and I'm still waiting for the alternative Inveraray Hostel to open next seasons bookings. Torran Bay looks good quality. If Inveraray then there are hotels nearby.

Friday 25th - Barholm in Creetwon (Newton Stewart). Private en-suite rooms reservced, but not a hotel.

Saturday 26th - Back to Cheviot Hotel Bellingham. Hotel rooms booked. If full, there are others nearby.

Thanks for the ideas Jamsie, but I reckon that bunkhouse on the hill looks a tad draughty, and to be honest, I'm not sure we have room to carry the rafts to get over to the loch retreat. Keep up the suggestions though mate.

Of course, if @dilligaf was to join us we'd have room for the rafts on his trailer.
