What a fantastic paint design, one of the now sought after models from Triumph.

Thanks. I didn't explain why. I put the tank pictures on here as I was trying to show them to TigCraft who was going to have a look and try to give me some advice. on repainting. My computer would not put them along with the message so I had to go this route. Yes it is a friendly machine. Its supposed to be low miles but no proof of that but it rides and runs quite sweet sounds rattlier than the normal T140 but I think it is just the bike and oem silencers.
    Regards
    Joe.

The tank looks nice, i would just flat out any of the small marks as best as poss and re lacquer it if it was mine :) some rattle some don't, never got to the bottom of that one lol. I started the TR6 Saturday and held the revs up high to bed the new cams and its a rattler lol, re torqued the head and did the valves again as they were miles out so should be better.

Yes I have been watching your build and again stand back in awe. Even the factory boys didn't do as good a job as you are doing. Part of me envies you in a nice way of course. I wish I had the patience and know how. My tank the decals have all chipped and bubbled and doesn't look like it should. I will still ride it but I do like to show of so the better half keeps telling me. I just say I'm the proud custodian for a while.

Lol, it's always a big debate as to original or restore. There are as many people in each camp and then there is the is it over restored groupe as well, i have decided that i will pinstripe the TR6 tank over the lacquer this time like it should be rather than cover it, on Su's bike i deliberately left more marks on the frame brazing and machine marks because that's how they were.

    Thanks Mate.
I will keep it safe. As I said I just want the decals repaired. I have tried several places who say you can't remove the decals and the tank needs a complete respray. The chap on eBay his decals are different to mine. I am trying the Indian sellers as they seem closer. I will keep you mailed on the progress.

Can give you a year no more I'm afraid. But I got a personal nursey. She has a bike licence aswel and used to take my bikes to work sometimes. But now she's happier with the car.

So in my opinion as those decals are lifting it will possibly drag the lacquer too far into the red if touched. There is a 99% chance it’ll destroy the full colour scheme. I would leave the tank and live with it until it looks tatty as it’s sacrilege to ruin an original tank. If the tank was an eyesore from ‘10” foot’ then I’d say yes paint it.

They are cracking and lifting plus bubbling in places. I will live with it but I don't like it. I may find another tank with our American Brothers you never know. I did try the Indian suppliers but they don't want to give me any info. I did think that they should have been painted originally but I suppose that would have been a difficult job to do. Thanks for looking. I was a bit stupid as the right side is worse. But I have the bike supported on a piece of wood now waiting for new stantions and bits coming for the front end.
    Regards
    Joe.
