Best to get the Twin Power one as it has the right chip-set - a lot of the cheaper ones on ebay and Amazon will not work! They must have the correct FTDI chip-set to to work with the FTDI CDM D2(XX) drivers. Cheap ones will use the HL-340 USB Serial adapter chip-set not FTDI.
Yes DD As you rightly guessed ! I have had several USB dongles/cables , I bought five from China via an eBay trader , I made sure they were ftdi compatible , this chip set also makes them compatible with car tuning programming software's. I had a program that could do very basic checking of my 2006 Mazda 3 ! I could turn off the servicing tool icon on the dash and turn on and off several of the electronic dash features ! I found it very annoying that the stereo/CD/radio would flash red LEDs when it was switched on or off ! So I cancelled it ! Sold the car to my Eldest Granddaughter and she likes the features so easiest way to turn it back on is to default the electronically controlled features , just disconnected the battery for 10 minutes ! ECU goes back to full factory default !! Cheers capt
Ok so I’m about to pull the pin and get set up for home servicing including Tunecu and the associated Bluetooth dongle for android. I want to reset the spanner icon, bleed abs brakes and throttle balance. So, is the Tunecu the one by Alain Fontaine? In the blurb he mentions that with a lot of cloned elm 327 dongles v2.1 about ( most common on eBay) the one I want is v1.3a, 1.4 or 1.5. So where is the best place to buy these so I can avoid buying something that won’t work. Cheers
That’s what I’m after, going Bluetooth as above but I’m looking for a reliable elm327 adapter the same as other folk have bought. Cheers.
You can't bleed the abs, you'll need the dealer tool mate. Unless it's been updated since I last used it, it was dealer tool only bud.
We’ll see soon, I’ve ordered the Lonelec adapter after seeing it recommended by Alain to a customer on here
Yes you can (bluetooth only), I've already done it on my 94R Speed without any problems. However be warned, reading the Triumph workshop it seems that the factory kit times out after 90secs and warns not to repeat for 5 mins to allow the abs modulator to cool or damage may occur. The TuneECU appeared not to have any time out, so don't get carried away!
Strange, tuneecu didn't give me the option but then again it's been about a year since I've used it, anyway I stand corrected.
Am I correct in saying, you can't use Tunecu on a 2016 and onwards speed triple? Apparently plugging it in would shut the bike down, with dealer reset needed?
