Nice I had a 3 1/2 sport when I was 17 as my dad wouldn't sign the finance for a 350 LC If I had the money I would love to buy it back Sad but I still remember the reg PKL 436W
Just checked DVLA, that reg has no details so first impressions not taxed/sorned etc. Maybe it's in a shed somewhere. I think there's an LC owners club. They might be able to help or ads in Old bike Mart/VJMCC, just a thought. I'm still wanting my first 1965 Bonn1e back CNW53C. On DVLA and Taxed. Where are youuuuuuuuuuu....Then I would need to rob a bank
Chap I know has one of these, nice little bike if you look after them. Dam site cheaper than a RD/lc as well.
Yeah, and the import rules say there has to be no mud/dirt etc anywhere in case of infection etc etc, but it shows the power of the net as ads were only put on "free sites", but finished up on MCN and other sites somehow where we did't put it on. One to remember me thinks when selling a bike. His other bike the AJS, was put on other free sites as well, and Real Classic Mag (great mag but only available by subscription), not only placed it in their small ads but took the piccie and used it as a feature inside explaining the model thoroughtly to the readers!
The thing about a European bike like this is that in Aussie and NZ the import duty back in the day on these bikes was something like 25% which put the price of these bikes out of most of the average bikers reach, hence forth there is not a great deal of these bikes over there and the price for something like this is a heck of a lot higher. I have seen T300 Daytona's ( not including the Super III) go for anything up to NZ $10000 which is around £4500. At the end of the day the less of something there is the more it is worth.
PKL 436W was my first of five Morinis. I was the second owner - I bought it in 1982 from Jack Lilley in Shepperton I used it for 2-3 years before it had an alternator problem (which i would be able to fix now!) so it went back to Jack Lilley in the back of my Morris Minor van! I'm glad it had more use - they are great bikes, able to keep up with much larger machines - had a great 'race' once with a Ferrari Dino on my Morini 500 (which is not as nice as the s 1/2).
