Hi All! Looking very (very) closely at buying a 2014 Tiger 800 XC from Youles in Blackburn. Just passed my DAS and it seems like a great first bike to get away with my father on his R1200GS. Can't wait. One question - the bike has Triumph pannier rails attached but no pannier with it. I can't seem to find out what panniers are available that fit this specific rack. Is it just Triumph? I really like the look of the Expedition panniers and the the GIVI Outback style. Do either / can either fit? Thanks in advance and I look forward to (hopefully) becoming an owner in the coming days.
Do they look like this? These panniers hook on to those big hoops pictured between the rails, if so try and have a look at them, they are big and heavy, side loading and don’t hold a lot. If the rails are oblong shaped they’ll be the top loading ally ones, a lot lighter
Thanks for the advice! I have found a photo of the bike - looking at them they look like these actually! https://www.triumphworld.co.uk/buy/triumph-Expedition-Pannier-Mounting-Kit/hjp-a9508193.htm#eq1 so I think it will be the aluminium ones? If so, thats great. Much prefer the look of those! Thanks for the swift advice.
Yes, they're the ones you want. Solid, waterproof, spacious and easily attached and removed. Top-loading so nothing falls out when you open them (whoever thought that was a good idea?)
Welcome aboard Ian. Cracking good bike the Tiger 800. If it's mainly roads you'll be riding on, and unless you need the slightly taller bike, then check out the XR version like Steve's above.
Hi again everyone, thought it was worth an update - I bought the 800xc (2014 - black) from Youles in Blackburn in the end. Love it so far, few niggling issues but all sorted now. Finally I managed to find the ally panniers cheap on eBay, one had a bit of crash damage but came in at £35 with shipping and the other cost around £180 with shipping. Both fit and work great, swapped the barrels too. Thanks very much for the advice - I’ll be sticking around here now I am officially an owner!
