    Hi All, I have just returned to biking after a 22 year break. I decided on a Tiger 1050 SE 2011 model. Very happy so far except for the Euro 4 jerkiness.

    Hi, Bryden, is that a typo or is your bike a 2017 model, euro 4 applies to bikes sold after 1st January 2017. A 2011 bike should be lovely and smooth, no fly by wire throttles getting in the way. If it’s jerky it needs attention, possibly throttles need synchronising.

    Hi Bryden, Welcome to the forum, the jerkiness sounds annoying but can normally be solved or ridden around.

    Thanks very much, it is a 2011 and has the cat and exhaust air injection, so I don’t know.

    If you’ve been away from bikes for over 20 years you won’t have ridden a fuel injected bike. They can feel more abrupt upon initial opening of the throttle from closed, especially on corners, only the very best set up injected bikes give you that real smooth transition like a carb set up so it may be that you need to get used to it and be extra careful going from closed throttle situations. If it’s jerky as you hold a steady throttle while riding it certainly shouldn’t be doing that and may need a service.

    The jerkiness is on initial throttle opening only, so I am sure that I will adjust. My last big bike was a GS1100EX 1983 !

    Without actually seeing or riding your bike, it does sound like an overly lean factory setting to meet the emissions certification. If it is that it can be tuned out either on a dyno (with ECU reprogramming), or via something like a booster or power commander. (I fixed that issue on my bike with a power commander and it’s no longer so snatchy off the line)
