I also find the Harley riders make a heck of a din - can't sit behind them as it hurts your ears!

Seems like I get more riding done in the winter than the summers to all the rain. If I put the bike up for winter I’d never get any riding in!

Ah that’s why I keep two bikes in the garage. The T’bird for touring and occasional ride outs during the summer and currently the speedmaster for all year round riding...

Took my 900 bonnie for the 500 mile service. Got lost well wondered. Loved every minute. This bike is reviving my spirits again I can just meander all day on it and the big grin on my face is humiliating when car drivers look at me as if I'm a nutter.
    Stay Safe

Riding it, well, have you seen what the weathers like at the weekend:mad:
It occurred to me on a recent ride how much countersteering im having to do while cornering, the pressure I was having to put on the inside bar to make the bike track the line I wanted was making my arms ache, also the bike was tracking over white lines badly, usually a sure sign that the rear tyre has had it. So a bit of investigation was needed. Firstly the tyres, pressures were ok ( I use 34/38, I found 36/42 to be a bit harsh with the firm suspension) tread depths are ok and the profiles have worn evenly, no squaring off etc. Suspension settings all ok, as per the manual and have been for thousands of miles, chain tension fine, all it seems in order, so why is the bike hard to ride and not giving me confidence at high lean angles?
So I decided to make a small, but quite significant change to the front end. I moved the forks down the yolks by 5mm. This has the effect of slightly raising the ride height and increasing the rake angle by a couple of degrees.
So then to road test and check the results. I headed out and found after just a few miles that the bike was much easier to ride, no having to pressure the inside bar to make the bike hold a line and no more wobble as it travelled over any white lines that stood proud of the road surface. Feedback at full lean was also improved. Straight line stability not affected.
I can only conclude that as the tyres have worn (Roadtec 01’s currently on 6000 miles with probably 1500/2000 miles left) that the need to push on the bars has crept up on me and by altering the fork angle that has had the effect of making the steering less sharp. If I have to put it back to what it was before when the time comes for new tyres then that’s no problem, takes longer to get the tools out than it does to do the job. Happy days.

This is yesterday actually, went for a ride to a mates at Titirangi, via Scenic Drive from my place. Its a very nice ride through the bush up along the edge of the Waitakere Ranges, hills and lots of twisties - but road surface is a tad dodgy though in places.

Couple of spots afford a pretty good view over Auckland to the city and beyond (does that sound a bit Buzz Lightyear?). Stopped for a photo or two (two are the same, just given pointers couple of landmarks on one of them for you)..

I collected the speedy after work from the bike shop, went in for a brake overhaul and a street triple light bracket fitted, sadly the bracket must have been from the wrong model as it wouldn't fit, any advice or correct part number for the bracket would be appreciated, did go for a quick 35 mile brake testing session before coming home though

6:30pm in Oct, who would have thought...? This was the empty part of the car park, didn’t even stop for tea as the queue was too long

Hang in there mate. Six weeks of chemo and thirty rounds of radiotherapy. It was tough but I am back on the bonny and riding every day I can. You will get there.

Again thank you all for your good wishes, but I have this inner feeling that my time on this planet is limited. And no amount of treatment is going to cure it.
I think most people who have this insidious thing called cancer know when its time to go. Now on to more happier things. Now this made me laugh as well as a lot of the comments on this website. Please keep it up, it really brightens my day.
