    Hi ,
This is my first post as a new member.
    I inherited a 1979 T140e, from my late dad.
He owned the bike from new, and it currently has 8K on the clock.
Sadly it was a basket case when I got it, and so over the last 18 months it's been slowly put Right, but as original as possible, which has not been easy!.
Looking forward to (hopefully) getting some ideas on the last stage of its rebirth, and that's getting it to run for more than three seconds.
Can't wait to ride it, as I remember being a pillion on it ,as a teenager , in the late 70's and early 80's.
    Cheers
    Paul

    Thanks for all the welcomes!,
The bike has had a lot of time spent on bringing it up to scratch, and so far its had new tyres, coils, ht leads, exhaust down pipe and balancing pipe, new kick start, stay up floats, indicators, headlight , fork shrouds, battery, secondhand silencers made by a local company, rear disc, master cylinders front and back, with associated pipework, new fuel cap, new fuel taps and 750 ml of solvol autosol.
The carbs have been stripped and cleaned, head has been off (a disaster though, but now sorted) valves re seated and pistons polished.
Clutch plates removed and cleaned, still stick like mad though.
    Lucas RITA is original.
Picture is from half way through restoration. IMAG1064.jpg

    Hi,
the tank was so rusty it had to be acid treated and sealed!, but you may have a point, as the petrol was replaced, and replaced again, but is over 6 months old now...

Welcome to the forum! It's great to see you bringing this bike back to life. You might get some better help if you can provide a detailed description about what you need to do to start the bike and then exactly what happens when it cuts out. Those details will probably 'trigger' someone's memory.
