04 Daytona 955i Rectifier

    Hi Guys
    The rectifier on my 04 Daytona has packed in.

    Given the amount that Triumph want for a part that seems to be the Achilles Heel of the bike, I plan to fit a less expensive aftermarket rectifier.

    A quick google shows that there are plenty out there from really cheap (and likely really nasty) Chinese ones at £18 through to well over £100 for others.

    Any recommendations for one that won't break the bank, but is also reasonable quality?

    I suppose at that price it's worth a punt. I was put off cheap Chinese stuff when I bought a charger for my spare gopro batteries which melted the wiring after a month....

    You are right DD, there is very little inside, it's just a large encapsulated (for durability) bridge rectifier (four heavy duty diodes in an array) mounted on an aluminum heat-sink.
    Most of that sort of rectification passives comes from China now!
    At £14 you cant go wrong...... ;)

    As you say, it has to be worth a punt at that price. \will let you know how it goes when it eventually gets here.

    And it sailed through its MOT today with no advisories too. :)

    Delivery between Aug 10th and 15th September said the confirmation.

    Like DD, Ive bought loads of stuff from China. 99% of the time it turns up pretty quick. The 1% that gets lost, you will get a refund from the seller, as they don't want any bad feedback!

    Looks like I owe you a pint of harmless fizzy pop. It arrived yesterday -mind you, it was sent from a UK address and business.

    Best bet is used from triumph 675, 800 tiger or third 1700.
    You will also need triumph link lead T2500676

    'twas a sprorstman's bet - which means you get thet satisfaction of knowing you were right! And a pint of harmless fizzy pop of some description should we ever meet! :)

    Hi Dave my name is Shawn and have just bought my 1st Triumph.. it is a 1997 Daytona T595.. i have been told that i need a new rectifier.. i have bought one but have no idea of the location of the part on the bike.. i was hoping you could point me in the right direction?

    On the 955 it is tucked away behind the LHS rear fairing just below the rear seat. 2 x 8mm AF bolts hold it in place. Wiring is cable tied to subframe. It's really easy to swap over, but you will need to check the stator is still OK first.
    Not 100% sure that the 595 is in the same place - it may be on the RHS.

    Fitted r/r and first outing fried the wiring and melted the fusebox.

    Hi there i have attached a photo with the seats and battery removed.. can u tell me where it is positioned from here..?
    I think it should be to the left or right... there are bolts holes but no rectifier...
    I jave just bought the guy and i think the guy has had me off

    That would make more sense.. the alternator is apparently a refurbished on so i jave been told... i will get the multi reader on the alternator to see if it is ok..

    Hahah yeh not so good buy me thinks.. he said the battery wasnt getting charged but said he had fitted a recon alternator and that i just needed to fit a rectifier which he gave me a new one with the bike... if it has a rectifier on the bike i cannot find it.. had all fairing off and tank no idea

    Hi there... i bought the bike a couple of days ago the guy told me that the battery wasnt holding charged and said that it needed a new rectifier fitting whihc he gave me the new part.. so when i got home i thought i would fit this so it would then hold its charge... i cannot find an old rectifier on the bike anywhere.. i am going to put the battery on charge start the bike up and do some multi reading tests to see what is failing.

    Both regulator & rectifier are both built into the back of the alternator under the end cover, you will likely need a large soldering iron to swap the rectifier as its usually soldered in place.

    To be honest you may be better to take it to your local auto electrical place and get them to test the alternator and get them to fit the rectifier then its just plug & play from your point of view.
