See posts in banter about meeting and riding to the GMU, so thought I would start a thread to keep it together. Tell us where your coming from and maybe meet up. We had a great ride in from Dumfries last year, Dilli rode past the GMU to come back with us !!!:p

Yorkshire/Lancashire bods (or anyone further north) - I am riding down to Haworth on the Wednesday and then setting off from there on Thursday and taking a nice meandering route to the GMU. Haven't worked it out yet but will be non-motorway and as twisty as possible. Anyone want to meet up and ride down? I'm staying with my nephew, who owns a café in Haworth, so if you fancy meeting in Haworth, having breakfast at café, then set off ???

Route planned but times yet to be arranged, roughly 4-5 hours with a lunch stop at the Trumpet, “why there? “I hear you ask, well some of us that still have triumphs will know!!

From ireland to Fishguard and up the coast.
Might meet Dave and jay on my way up.
Havnt spoke to them yet about meeting them but im sure we will.

For anyone going who dont know about dave. He and his wife are on Airbnb near pembroke . i stayed there last year on the way home from my very wet tour of Scotland and the UK during and after the GMU last year:oops:. Little did i know when i booked that Dave is a biker and so was his son Jay.
I told them about our GMU and he said he would join us next year.
True to his word , He is. :).
His son jay unfortunately lost limbs in a bike crash so will be pillion . both are very nice lads as you will see :p

We've probably got enough ailments between us to be able to park in the disabled spaces!

Still not decided if I can make it due to work but I could meet up in Haworth with you ron no problem and maybe just have a passing visit to the gmu. Which cafe is it as I know Haworth quite well? Eric

Good if you do decide, let me know. Might be heading west to meet with AndyC off the boat.

@andypandy is meeting @dilligaf and myself at J14 services on the M56 near Chester. And Dilli and I are meeting in Carlisle somewhere yet to be decided, on the Thursday morning.

Which does seem realy close to @MrOrange @andyc1 and @Tigcraft

Hi Sprinter the Horseshoe Pass has the Ponderosa Cafe at the top of the pass, the food is about as good as most road cafe's. It is a very popular biker meeting place and on a good weather day you get hundreds of bikes there.
The road up/down the pass is an interesting ride, but as Jack has said the road surface is not brilliant; it is rideable though. Unfortunately the road leading to the pass from Chester across the moors (which is a lovely ride) has been restricted recently with 50mph averaage speed cameras installed. If you really wanted to do the pass you could ride down the A483 (the Wrexham bypass) to the A5 and come up and back down the pass via Llangollen and then rejoin A483 to head south for GMU. Should only take 20 to 30mins to complete.
I'm looking at my options to travel to the GMU on the Thursday rather than the Friday, if I do I will meet up with you guy's coming south...
    Wessa
